A good movie

Nowadays, this movie is pretty much forgotten but when it was released, it was a smash hit and it is still one of the most successful movies coming from Australia, if I’m not mistaken. Anyway, even though the whole thing was directed by Chris Noonan, apparently, this movie was a ten-year labor of love for George Miller who wrote and produced this flick. That was rather unexpected. I mean, who wo... read more

Babe is such a charming and enchanting film, that even the fussiest adult can't help finding it easy to like. Babe himself, voiced by Christine Cavanaugh(Darkwing Duck and Dexter's Laboratory) is an adorable character, and one scene in particular when his mother is taken away is a genuine tearjerker. The other animals are also just as engaging, including Ferdinand, and are well voiced by the likes... read more

" Based on the book by: Dick king Smith, Babe, a pig raised by sheepdogs, learns to herd sheep with a little help from Farmer Hoggett. An throughly cute and adorable film, that adults and kids will love, and enjoy. The talking animal effects alone, are next level awesome, to the point where you could swore that they actually talk. Which could probably even inspire, someone to give up eating meat all together, and become a vegetarian. Critics, enjoyed the film, as did filmgoers. Interestingly"

What your favorite movie (really) says about you.. (57 movies items)

"If Babe is your favorite movie....then you have a heart of gold, and obviously love animals. You have always wanted a pig - or other lovable farm animal - to care for in a genuine, loving way. You would love to live on a farm, and can appreciate a man who only speaks when he has to, commanding an innocent creature who perseveres, as well as commanding presence when walking the earth; a touch of madness and hard-work, coupled with a touch of Zen. You probably get emotional every time Sarah Mac"

Enchanting classic for the whole family to enjoy

“Babe is such a charming and enchanting film, that even the fussiest adult can't help finding it easy to like. Babe himself, voiced by Christine Cavanaugh(Darkwing Duck and Dexter's Laboratory) is an adorable character, and one scene in particular when his mother is taken away is a genuine tearjerker. The other animals are also just as engaging, including Ferdinand, and are well voiced by the likes of Miriam Margoyles and Hugo Weaving. The human characters were very warm and likable, and James Cromwell and Magda Szubanski were both wonderful. The film looks lovely, there is a nice story and the music is just superb, with Saint Saens' Organ Symphony and Delibes' Pizzicato. And I loved the singing mice, they were really sweet and funny. All in all, a true classic. 10/10 Bethnay Cox” read more

Movies the giraffe watched in 2021: January (42 movies items)

"First viewing - Jan. 23rd I remember renting Babe for my daughter to watch, but at the time I was not in the mood to watch it with her. She was almost 3 at the time, so naturally she didn't remember it anymore. We watched it together this time, and both really enjoyed it. It's just a good movie with a clear message about being yourself and treating others well, and it's solidly entertaining all around without feeling like it's only catering to the kiddos. I'm glad I finally watched it."

Best Picture Nominees (in Ten Sentences) (478 movies items)

""Babe" is one of those children’s movies that everyone sees as an unlikely nominee for Best Picture. I have to admit, when I heard one of my first nostalgic films of the 90’s got such acclaim from the Academy, I couldn’t believe its inception either. Babe is about a runt piglet (Christine Cavanaugh) who gets adopted by farmer Arthur Hoggett (James Cromwell) and raised by a herd of sheep dogs, led by Fly (Miriam Margolyes). Soon, he dreams of becoming a sheep dog himself, causing up stir an"

"For a cute movie, about cute, adorable, talking animals, the idea of farm animals meant for one purpose and one purpose only, is not glanced over."
