Best movies of 1993

If there's one thing this last week has taught me, it's better to have a gun and not need it than to need a gun and not have it.

I can't find anything to not love about this movie. Even if Christian Slater & Patricia Arquette weren't pitch-perfect in their roles as lovers on the run, the rest of the cast goes above & beyond to help create a memorable, enjoyable film. In fact, sometimes I love the supporting roles more than the leads: Brad Pitt as a stoner, the verbal ballet between Christopher Walken and Dennis Hopper, Gary Oldman as a pimp that thinks he's black, and James Gandolfini being deliciously sadistic. Tarantino's pen guarantees unforgettable dialogue, and the film operates on multiple levels (action, crime, romance, thriller) without missing a beat. Damn right it's my favorite film of 1993.

Credited here, despite the fact that it didn't hit American theatres until Dec. 6, 1996.

Maybe along with Rio Bravo the greatest hangout movie ever made. Every time you watch it the characters are like your friends and it's just like you're hanging out with them again.
