Top 10 movies (when I was 29)

What can I say... In the past year I've seen a lot of great movies. This was definitely a year of drama. I love this genre, it's no surprise that as many as five dramas were in the Top 10.

Definitely the best movie was French 'Intouchables'. A beautiful story about friendship, which from the point of view of many people, it should not exist. We get to know two different people and we observe how they change, we know the way they really are and what their desires truly are. I'm surprised that this movie is so unpopular.
Another great movie, also foreign language - 'Ondskan' (Evil), tells the story of the relationship between young people, really amazing. This year the Scandinavian movies definitely surprised me. First, the aforementioned 'Ondskan', later 'Man som hatar kvinnor' (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo). When I was 29 I finally watched 'Psycho' - Hitchcock's first film I've ever seen and I wasn't disappointed. I also fell in love with Arthur wonderful family ('Arthur Christmas'), a lovely teddy bear named 'Ted' and the new version of Snow White ('Snow White and the Huntsman'), even though I don't like Kristen Stewart and her open mouth, the teeth on the top and the same face in almost every scene. I was delighted with Robin Williams and Robert De Niro in 'Awakenings', and an interesting and touching movie of my favorite director - Frank Darabont ('The Majestic'). In the past year I discovered 50's in the movie. I must mention '12 Angry Men', which was surprisingly good.

I hope that next year will help me once again to discover something new, a lot of beautiful movies and sensational stories.

Drama

As previously mentioned, the past year was a year of drama. I saw about 54 drama movies. In addition to the dramas mentioned in the top 10, to the best I can include: 'Gran Torino' (9/10) - Amazing movie. Very interesting story and unexpected ending, beautiful friendship between adult man and a boy, great dialogue... "And I'd like to leave my 1972 Gran Torino... to my friend... Thao Vang Lor... on the condition that you don't chop-top the roof like one of those beaners... don't paint any idiotic flames on it like some white-trash hillbilly... and don't put a big, gay spoiler on the rear end... like you see on all the other zipperheads' cars. It just looks like hell. If you can refrain from doing any of that, it's yours.", 'Suicide Room' (9/10) - very interesting, contemporary image, 'December Boys' (9/10) - I'm probably the only person that liked this movie, but I don't mind it. I think it was a great story also presented in the beautiful scenery., 'It's a Wonderful Life' (9/10) and... I have a problem here, because I saw so many good (8/10) dramas, it's hard to mention just one, but it will set in 'Dogville' (8/10) - This movie was so weird, different and very long... and at the same time he was fascinating. I've never seen anything like that. I could not take my eyes off the TV. I waited in tension how the story ends. And ended brilliant.

Thriller/Crime

The second most watched genre in the past year. I saw 33 movies in this genre. I have to admit that in addition 'Psycho' and 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' from top 10, there were several movies in this genre, which collapsed in my memory. 'Lawless' (8/10) - The first half of this film, I annihilated. I didn't feel the climate, I couldn't concentrate. But then... revelation, 'The Tall Man' (8/10) - it was a pretty good movie. I've never seen Jessica Biel in role like that. I think she was great. The whole story made โ€‹โ€‹sense and was quite surprising, 'Megan Is Missing' (8/10) - Great movie. He kept in suspense until the end. This movie surprised me and I think that is an interesting lesson for all young people, 'Rear Window' (8/10) - interesting movie. Not much was happening, while movie sucked and I still feel that I don't know what will happen at the end and 'M' (8/10) - great old movie.

Comedy/Family

I saw about 26 comedy/family movies. The best, with the exception of 'Ted' in top 10 turned out to be 'Little Miss Sunshine' (9/10) - Twisted family. I really fell in love with the main character, to follow her dreams to be fulfilled was really admirable. Families sacrifice to fulfill dreams of a little girl was also not from this planet. The whole story was fun, especially running the car and of course the performance of Olive in a beauty contest... was insane. Others: '21 Jump Street' (8/10) - I think it's a pretty successful comedy. At first I was skeptical, but then pulled up and laughed and had a great time on this film, 'Juno' (8/10) - it was a very enjoyable movie. Very interesting main character, 'Bridesmaids' (8/10) - I like crazy women and their crazy lives, 'The Wizard of Oz' (8/10) - Great timeless story. Great music, it was a magical experience.

Animation

Last year I saw a lot of great animation. In total I saw 22 animation. Best I've ever seen is in the Top 10, of the others I can mention: 'Megamind' (9/10) - The main character was something in himself, which I immediately loved. This blue creature from outer space was a very original and funny, 'Coraline' (8/10) - It was a wonderful story. I like dark animation like this which is full of fantasy, color, and lots of interesting characters, 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' (8/10) - very interesting and timeless story, 'Mary and Max' (8/10) - Wonderful animation. Such a sad and so true. Great narration and 'ParaNorman (8/10) - Norman's family was fun and interesting.

Sci-Fi

I saw 16 sci-fi movies. One of my favorite genres. Last year I saw two great (9/10) sci-fi movies. Unfortunately, none of them impressed me so to be in the Top 10. 'District 9' (9/10) - I like such movies, very creative, 'Prometheus' (9/10) - This movie was great. All time something has happened. Interesting role of Charlize Theron. In this role, I haven't seen her yet. At times the movie was really scary, what I enjoyed it most. The figure of "engineer" was phenomenal. I like connection sci-fi with horror, 'Moon' (8/10) - really beautiful film and a very interesting story. Fantastic Sam Rockwell's main role, 'The Avangers' (8/10) - I expected something better. But overall it was great. The film was great visually, full of humor, but as to the content... This was a little too much, too confused, just combined to create a movie. But after all, I love Iron Man, and It was also the best version of Hulk I've ever seen and 'In Time' (8/10) - I must admit that even though I don't like Justin Timberlake, the movie impressed me. Amanda looked lovely, the subject of this film very interesting, original, and inspiring.

Adventure/Fantasy

I saw 16 in this genre. So... generally I like fantasy and adventure movies, but last year I didn't see anything special, except the new version of Snow White in the top 10, and 'Dark Shadows', which I rated 8/10, mainly by sentiment to the director. But this is pretty cool story. A little exaggerated, at times a bit boring, visually very unusual. The rest of the films mentioned here, I rate overall as good (7/10). 'Thor' - I expected something more... The whole story was interesting, but the presentation was average, 'The Hunger Games' - it was a cool idea, but visually I missed a lot. There was a confusion of old times with futuristic, I don't know if I really liked it. The whole thing was interesting, sometimes boring, I didn't feel action, love or deeper emotions, 'John Carter' - something was missing. The characters in the movie were too pale, 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2' - Great ending. The rest of the film a bit boring. I prefer the book, and the film adaptations of the first part of the saga.

Horror

I saw 12 in this genre. I don't especially like horror movies, but I watch from time to time. In the past year I've seen two really cool: 'Pandorum' (8/10) and 'Mama' (8/10). Maybe these aren't typical horror films, more a combination of horror/sci-fi in the case 'Pandorum' and horror/fantasy in the case 'Mama', but I like just that combination. 'The Cabin in the Woods' (7/10) - weird and exaggerated, a little surprising, 'The Possession' (7/10) - quite interesting, '28 Days Later...' (7/10) - I expected more. It was quite interesting action movies, but for me, not enough has happened.

Action

I saw 10 in this genre. I like action movies, but usually don't reach more ratings than 8/10. Last year, I mentioned the following five titles that were interesting for me: 'Contraband' - very good movie. I love Mark Wahlberg and Kate Beckinsale and action movies like this. Always something going on, and the end was great, 'Bad Ass' - Full of action and humor, the main character was revelation, 'The Bourne Legacy' - very decent action movies and the change of the main character acted a plus for the entire series. It is no longer Ludlum, but I think that this film does not lack nothing. Great cast, a very interesting role of Jeremy Renner, great Rachel Weisz, 'Running Scared' - pretty interesting movie. A lot was happened, great role of Vera Farmiga, 'Man on a Ledge' - very cool movie. A lot of action, humor and surprising moments.

Today I have a 30th birthday... (wow - how time flows).
This list is a summary of the period from 14 May 2012 to 13 May 2013, a period in which I was 29 years old.

Over the last year I saw 203 movies, in my possibilities are really a lot (although I've never counted the number of movies, this is my first year in which I run movie diary).

In this list I will try to summarize what I've seen, replace the best films in each genre, and the worst.

All I saw when I was 29 is in my movie diary.
