Critics and audiences alike have slammed Contraband for its unoriginality and the so-called 'convoluted plot'. I personally loved the film. American remakes of foreign films are almost always something to be dreaded, but Contraband is a surprising exception to the rule. Perhaps this is because the movie was directed and produced by Baltasar Kormákur, who starred in and produced the Icelandic flick Reykjavik-Rotterdam on which Contraband is based. The script was quite weak on this one. I still believe this is overrated at 6.6 on IMDB, will eventually go below the 6 I guess. Never expected it to be this cheesy as a plot and the acting was quite bad at times.
