So simple, so direct, so on its time. A lot and nothing happens in this trip, but first of all there´s no violence, not even competition, is the obsession with cars

Description: The Driver (James Taylor) and the Mechanic (Dennis Wilson) are drag racers pitting their gray '55 Chevy against any and all gearheads in order to make money for gas and food. They and a tag-along Girl (Laurie Bird) meet their match in GTO (Warren Oates) and they all set off on a cross-country race to Washington D.C., with the winner getting the loser's car. But it isn't the end that really counts; it is the process of getting there, as the Girl's fickleness forces the Driver to decide what matters more: endless races or her. ... (more)

Luulin tämän olevan samanlainen kuin Easy Rider, josta en ole ikinä pitänyt, mutta Two-Lane Blacktop keskittyikin pajarifilosofoinnin ja haahuilun sijaan miellyttävän paljon ihan vanhaan kunnon auton rassailuun. Autoista en mitään ymmärrä, mutta komiat americana-maisemat ja amerikanraudat ovat miellyttävää katsellaa.
