"February 6th Directed by: Mel Brooks It's genuinely funny to me that this was written as a movie with no intent to turn it into a stage play, because this is such the thing that stage nerds would go wild for, and of course, did. What's not funny to me is most of this movie, strangely. It's not that it's filled with failed comedy, there definitely is some of that, but it's more that I feel like nothing was even approached from a comedic angle. There's nothing funny about the buildup to the play"

"“The Producers is a comedy landmark. It has a take on humanity that could only come from Mel Brooks. Of all his movies, I think it is the single most pure expression of Mel’s humor. He is never afraid to go where no comic genius has gone before.” - Rob Reiner "

" Notes: To be honest, by now, I have seen almost all the movies directed by Mel Brooks and, I have to admit it, I'm not a huge fan of his work. I mean, I have seen 'Blazzing Saddles', 'Young Frankenstein' and 'Spaceballs' and even though I enjoyed these classics, I can't say that they really blew me away though. However, there is one big exception and it is this movie. Indeed, this flick is by far his best one and I really loved it. First of all, it was not a parody, a genre which I am not real"

"Mel Brooks's first film celebrates 50 years with a rare cinematic screening. Zero Mostel and Gene Wilder are superb as the Broadway producer and accountant who work out they will make more money from a flop than a hit and so try everything they can to find a losing formula. Still as bad taste, as it was on its first release, seeing it on the big screen is like watching it for the first time. Sharp, funny and the most underrated screen double act ever. Oh, and then there's Springtime For Hitler."
