"A man tries to uncover an unconventional psychologist's therapy techniques on his institutionalized wife, amidst a series of brutal murders. Early Cronenberg is a treat, his defining feature, later coined as "body horror", the mutation or mutilation of human bodies, is where the horror comes from just not knowing what the fuck you're looking at. This, mixed with the wholesome, backwoods, Cathy's Curse-esque Canadian-ness that could only be produced by low budgets and the 1970's makes for a ve"

" Date: 7/19/2021 Viewed: HBO Max Re-Watch Note: It's been years since I have seen this movie and I finally had the time to rewatch it. Myös tässä elokuvassa on jotain piinaavaa ja häiritsevää, joka vielä rainan loputtuakin seuraa katsojaansa kuin varjo. "

"10.4. DVD Uusintakatselu. Avioero on rumaa. Niin on myös vanha Future Filmin DVD."

"David Cronenberg turns existential dread into violent, tangible fear in this 1979 sci-fi-inflected thriller about an unorthodox psychologist who is able to manifest patients’ inner anger into physical beings. Horror fans will nerd out at the amorphous psycho-blobs that terrorize and kill the patient’s source of agony; everyone else will be incredibly disturbed by what the film has to say about parenthood, repressed emotions and good old-fashioned rage. Cronenberg would up the splatter quotie"

"At the center of The Brood is the power struggle between Nola (a fearlessly feline Samantha Eggar) and Frank (Art Hindle), and the effects of their severance upon their shell-shocked little girl, Candy (Cindy Hinds). Set in deepest Canadian winter, juxtaposing harsh brutalist exteriors against scarcely less inviting cinder-block and wood-panel interiors, the film gives off the impression—as most David Cronenberg films do—of a neat, clinically surgical procedure, that despite the mealy horror"
