Some cool theories, but most of them were utterly idiotic. You can see Kubrick's face in the sky at the beginning? Don't make me laugh.

Some people just analyses movies too much. And this movie had plenty of that.

Not Enough Room for 237 Ways to Analyze a Film

Since "The Shining" is one my favorite films made by one of my favorite filmmakers I naturally found this to be an intriguing documentary to see. Sadly the result is an unfocused effort to take meaning out of the symbolism and elements of the film. There are actually better, shorter, more focused videos online that I recommend watching before his.

Yet, since this is a thing I enjoy ... read more

Description: A subjective documentary that explores the numerous theories about the hidden meanings within Stanley Kubrick's film The Shining. The film may be over 30 years old but it continues to inspire debate, speculation, and mystery. Five very different points of view are illuminated through voice over, film clips, animation and dramatic reenactments. Together they'll draw the audience into a new maze, one with endless detours and dead ends, many ways in, but no way out. Movie Reviews (1951-2000) (50 movies items)

" Not an essential "making of" movie but a fun collection of theories and "crazed" conspiracy theories that surround "The Shining". Fun watch especially for those who have seen the film numerous times but not seen the small details that feed the brain of those who are looking for them. Would have been fun to have seen the faces of the people commenting on the film though - maybe we wouldn't have taken it serious then?"

Movies the giraffe watched in 2016: November (23 movies items)

"First viewing - Nov. 26th After lunch I watched this overrated idiotic doc that focuses on a handful of people's crackpot theories about what The Shining is actually about beyond being a horror movie. It's a lot like reading internet comments about Tool's lyrics, and many of the arguments were basically "well, I study this subject a lot so I saw symbols in the film that connect with it so that's what the film is about." If you're looking hard enough for symbols to justify your beliefs or ideas,"

My Movie Diary 2016 (235 movies items)

" 9.5 What to do with a documentary about the movie "The Shining?" The many interpretations and the genius behind Kubrick's direction are good dosages of cinema knowledge. And that's just about it."
