Nowadays, David Cronenberg has become a respected director and he has specialized himself in some rather straightforward dramas but, at the beginning of his career, he was famous for making some rather nasty and unsettling horror features. This movie is a fine example. To be honest, I wasnโ€™t really sure what to expect from this movie but since I always had a weak spot for David Cronenberg, I was... read more

my 2020 movie diary โ™ฅ (33 movies items)

" David Cronenberg is the only Canadian filmmaker worth watching. And years of being forced to live in Canada have clearly turned the guy nuts, as evidenced from his films. I seemed to have shared his fate because I totally love body horror films. Can't get enough of that shit. And Rabid is a total masterpiece of the disgusting, creepy and gory. I don't get the people who bitch about Rabid having a shitty B-movie vibe. I love the look of grimy, low budget, 1970s freezing cold Montreal. It is "

October 2019 Horrorfest (37 movies items)

"First viewing - Oct. 11th I had good intentions on this Friday night of watching a couple horror movies before I crashed, but by the end of Rabid I could barely stay awake. That's not a slight against the film, which is a solid little flick with decent performances and I'm glad I finally caught up with it. Overall I enjoyed it well enough, but I wouldn't call it great and doubt whether I'd need to see it again. "

TDcore's Horror Journal 2018: Pt. 4 (50 movies items)

" This is about as conventional a film as Cronenberg is capable of directing, and while different than the body of his work, still shares many of his characteristics. It's not a great film, and a very uneven one in both pace and success. There's a lot to enjoy, with plenty of Cronenberg's trademark body horror moments and several memorable scenes of carnage. Sometimes the film feels much more like an early Romero film, however, as it explores the manner in which the Canadian government handles a"
