"21.8. Itse en viihdy muodollisissa juhlallisuuksissa. Ei nÀytÀ viihtyvÀn myöskÀÀn menestyvÀn kirjailijan Giovannin vaimo Lidia. Kirjoitustauolle vetÀytynyt mies tuntuu olevan aavistuksen tÀynnÀ itseÀÀn. Toisaalta minkÀs teet, kun jopa kuolinvuoteellaan makaava ystÀvÀ antaa pyyteettömÀsti kehuja uunituoreesta niteestÀ. “As entertaining as the âhot sinsâ are, sometimes itâs good cinema to follow the book fool, mostly free of these popular sins, but just living a quietly unenlightened life. Society and the other book fools look up to him, but he hasnât found the way to happiness.Â

"First viewing - Mar. 27th I switched from France to Italy for my second feature on this Saturday afternoon, and had I enjoyed this film more I probably would have made an entire day out of watching films from other countries. But while this film has a good story and some memorable scenes and characters, I found it tedious to hang with its relaxed pace and extended detours. By the end of it I felt like they could have dropped 30-45 minutes out of it and it would have worked even better. I get th"
" Notes: To be honest, it has been ages since I saw this movie and I should definitely re-watch at some point. I have to admit that except for âBlowup, I didnât care so much for the movies I have seen directed by Michelangelo Antonioni but there is no denying that, in the 60's, he was a major movie director and this movie was one of the many masterpieces he made back in those days. Jeanne Moreau and Marcello Mastroianni were both really strong here as they delivered some great perfomances. A"
