this movie had much more potential, in my opinion just another overrated independent film as so many others (especially Tarkovsky and Bela Tarr) nice soundtrack and black/white cinematography but not a lot was going on in the entire movie, it's too slow and too long.

(OK) I survived this Bela tarr thanks to the idea of embracing not only the horse but the girl and even the poor shepard patriarch that, in the voice in off narrated prologue, tell the story of Nietzsche embracing the horse and murmuring his last words...

Description: A rural farmer is forced to confront the mortality of his faithful horse. 1889. German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche witnessed the whipping of a horse while traveling in Turin, Italy. He tossed his arms around the horse's neck to protect it then collapsed to the ground. In less than one month, Nietzsche would be diagnosed with a serious mental illness that would make him bed-ridden and speechless for the next eleven years until his death. " The torment, the repetition, the perdition. Luckily the rumour (or news, actually) about this being Tarr's last film turned out to be false. There are few as exestential auteurs as Tarr, Tarr being one of the brightest and The Turin Horse being one of his greatest without a shadow of a doubt.
