“I’m going to assume that the true story was just a kernel here. A mere springboard for its talented ensemble to riff and develop a series of improbable characters and situations, but that’s also the problem with Masterminds. Too much anarchy and lunacy in service of nothing but those exact elements becomes numbing. " DVD- 1hr. 34min. First Viewing When it isn't absurd for absurdity's sake, Masterminds mines some solid laughs from its strong cast and oddball energy. The problems mainly stem from the script, that makes its characters so stupid that, even for a comedy, its difficult to take the situations. Other times, that animated mentality does work, but this is mostly due to the cast's strengths. "

" Familiar Actors: Zach Galifianakis Kristen Wiig Owen Wilson Jason Sudeikis Devin Ratray Mary Elizabeth Ellis Kate McKinnon Leslie Jones Ken Marino Daniel Zacapa Jill Jane Clements Rhoda Griffis James Coburn and Diezel Ramos True Rating: 4.7/10 Wait this is the guy who directed Napoleon Dynamite and Nacho Libre?! What happened? I guess it doesn't translate well with bigger stars or something. Chris Bowman and Hubbel Palmer also wrote another film that came out I sort of want to see. Hopefull"
