I'm currently working my way through the Walter Hill filmography and next to Streets of Fire this might be my favourite film by Hill.

There's a moment in the second act, when Joe Morton appears in a dream and slowly walks through a set of doors, his body initally dwarfed but then consuming the entire screen, which is nightmarish in a Lynchian way. The set-up of the scene is ac... read more

Eugene is an extraordinary talent in classic guitar, but he dreams of being a famous Blues guitarist. So he investigates to find a storied lost song. He asks the legendary Blues musician Willie Brown to help him, but Willie demands to free him from the old-people's prison first and to really learn the blues on the way to it's origin: Mississippi Delta. Eugene doesn't know yet about Willie's deal with the devil, that he now wants to revoke.

Elokuvapäiväkirja (48 movies items)

"Typerä typerä elokuva, jossa Karate kidin ja kumppaneiden Bluesin etsintä typistyy huonosti käyttäytymiseksi. Bluesin mythokseen sisältyy jotain aidosti elämää suurempaa, olkoot sitten perkeleen kanssa tehtyjä tienristeyskontrahteja tai päähän potkitun kansanosan luuydinmehua. Elokuvallisen yhdentekevyyden ja suuren Bluesin idean väärinkäytön yhdistelmä oli tehdä tästä yhden tähden elokuvan. Loppu, jossa vedetään kitarabattle panoksena sielu ja vastassa Steve Vain esittä"

My Top 25 Halloween Favorites: Demons & Devils (25 movies items)

" Crossroads is kinda like the movie version of the song The Devil Went Down To Georgia, except, instead of some kid named "Johnny", it's the kid from The Karate Kid. And instead of a duel of fiddle playin', it's a duel of hard guitar jamming. And instead of a golden fiddle, it's Steve Vai. But the devil is still the devil. And challenging the Prince Of Lies to any kind of musical stand-off always requires playing your instrument with enough "soul" to keep your soul. "
