Damien Rice and Ana Carolina
I had to add this one because it literally makes me cringe.
You probably have never heard this song before and you're lucky. Even luckier if you don't understand what is it that they're saying, but, here we go...

And now you have Damien Rice's song, a song that I liked so much, but can never listen to anymore without thinking of the atrocity above...
I suppose she's paid for the rights of the song and such, but if Damien knew just how far she's ruined the song, he would have never let i happen...

Brandy and Coldplay
In 2004 singer Brandy Norwood released a song called "Should I Go". Please pay attention to the melody:
Does it or does or does it not sound like this song:

Fortunately, co-writing credits have been given to Coldplay's front man Chris Martin for it.

Christina Aguilera and A-ha
Maybe you thought no one remembered A-Ha anymore, but, seriously, pay attention in second 0:42

Coldplay and Joe Satriani
Coldplay has a famous song called Viva La Vida, and it goes like this:
And Joe Satriani has this (starting around 0:50):
Draw your own conclusions.

Gotye and Luiz Bonfa
Everyone knows Gotye's song, because, well, it became a hit a while ago, and, frankly, I thought it was really good, so, let's hear it...
Pay attention to the melody going on in the chorus...
Pay attention to the melody going on in the chorus...
And now it's time to compare it to this song. This song by Luiz Bonfa is purely instrumental and, let's be honest about it, no one knows it... I think Luiz Bonfa is the one who suddenly found out this "amazing" coincidence, otherwise, it would have gone by unnoticed...
Luiz Bonfa sued Gotye over the rights for the melody and won the cause. Gotye later admitted to taking part of the song, but, this is one case I frankly don't mind. I think it turned out better.

Greenday and Oasis
When Greenday emerged as a big Emo band they came along with this song:
And, I actually find it a pretty nice song, though there are some I find way better. But, that doesn't matter. What matters is...

...Way too long ago Oasis had a song. And, you might know this song, because, let's face it, it's Oasis most well-known song...
And, seriously, if you ignore the lyrics, the instrumental is virtually the same, meaning, you can actually learn one song and be able to play 2.

Jennifer Lopez and Kaoma
Not too long ago Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull did a song in collaboration...
But, a long, long, long, seriously LONG time ago, when Lambada was the HIT of the moment, a Brazilian band by the name of Kaoma had the following song:
So, if you pay attention as the rhythm goes, you'll notice they have several similarities... Oh, wait, if you ignore the whole electronic beat, they're actually the same thing... What a surprise! NOT.

Jet and the Movie Trainspotting
One of Jet's most famous song was the following:
And, I think it's a really nice song, but, does it or does it not sound like...
And, I think it's a really nice song, but, does it or does it not sound like...
...the intro rhythm that goes around in this famous movie:
Well, still think that all in all, it's a nice song.

Justin Bieber and The Cardigans
So far we'd been mostly talking about melodies and such, but for this one we have the same lyrics to a song...
Pay attention to the chorus...

Did you get that part well? So, go ahead and listen to this song:
I think they believe originality is overrated, especially when it comes to him. Just because your fans probably weren't even born when this song was a hit, it doesn't mean others won't notice.

Latino and Several Artists
In Brazil there is this guy who thinks he's a great artist when, in reality, he just takes songs that have become famous by other artists and put some different lyrics on it to say it's his. Dragostea din Tei was sort of a hit for him. Kuduro made the guy who originally sings it sue him and, lastly we have Gangnam Style, and for that PSY made him get away from Youtube. A joyful day for everyone!
Let's start with that that is Latino's most "famous" song...
A couple years ago there was a song that went pretty viral and was called "Festa no Apรช". Rejoice and listen to this masterpiece (once again, you're lucky you probably won't understand what it says)...
This song was a hit just shortly, really, not long after this song hit the radio...

Let's play guess who made it first... You only have one chance, and seriously, there's no way anyone could guess it wrong...
This second one is so bad it made Don Omar sue Latino over the rights of the song. Needless to be said that Latino wants to take over these famous songs without paying any cent to it, right?
Here are the two songs:
And the original version:

Last but not least, we have the most atrocious version of them all. Right now you have no idea how lucky you are if you don't understand a word they're saying. It's the kind of thing that makes your ears BLEED!
After this became "popular" PSY did the right thing and sued Latino over the rights of the song. Because of the repercussion of the case, medias did not play Latino's song, and he was probably upset by that...
And, well, you all know, Gangnam Style:

And, well, you all know, Gangnam Style:

Offspring and The Beatles

One Direction, The Clash and Mamonas Assassinas

One Direction and Grease

Rage Against the Machine and Led Zeppelin

Rihanna and O'Zone
Just as I wrote the classic of Latino and his apartment party, I was reminded of the fact that, hey, Rihanna seemed fond of Dragostea din Tei as well...
So, let's go ahead and compare the two songs...
Here goes Rihanna:
And here we have, once more, O'Zone with Dragostea Din Tei.
Apparently Rihanna's song is a remix version of that, but still, I thought it was worth putting it in here.

Taio Cruz, Ke$ha and Flo Rida
List of songs that have either copied the melody from others or have very similar melodies going on. Suggestions are accepted, but I'm too lazy to add them, so, it might take a while...
