My DVD/Blu Ray Collection - Xanadon't
Complete list, minus a handful of random television seasons.
I recently rearranged my entire film collection by genre, complete with neat little plastic encased genre-cards announcing the arrival of each section. It's not so much that I'm a dork (though I am) as I'm just really good at avoiding meaningful activities in place of nonsense like this.
Up top we have directors whose work I am more or less in the process of collecting. They're arranged alphabetically overall, chronologically within the individual artist's output.
From there things are arranged by genre, without much rhyme or reason to what order the genres appear other than it's how I decided things would flow best on my shelves.
The final section is mostly an ongoing/rotating mental note of major holes/things I've been meaning to seek out on the cheap. I try not to make a habit of paying full-price/new-release prices for movies. Usually that's just silly. (Really?! Did I really need to buy Prometheus the week it came out? Way to go jack-ass.) An actual wish-list would be impossible because there would be no end in sight. Anyways...
Still lots and lots of major absentees and more than a couple embarrassing entries (what, you've never purchased a movie while drunk?), but in some ways it's shaping up into a respectable collection. I guess.
