Returns $42.70 for every $1 paid.
Portman lands on the list mostly thanks to Black Swan, the 2010 movie about a ballerina losing her mind that grossed $330 million on an estimated budget of $13 million. Until she starts earning Angelina Jolie-sized paydays, Portman will continue to be a good investment.
Returns $40.60 for every $1 paid.
Stewart performed an unusual feat this year: She topped the highest-paid actress list and almost ranked as the actress who offers the best return for her pay. Even though Stewart earned $25 million to appear in the last two Twilight films, she still offers a good return on investment.
Returns $35.80 for every $1 paid.
LaBeouf topped the list in 2009 and 2010. This year he ranks third. Most of LaBeouf's returns come from the Transformers movies but the actor has said he won't appear in any more of the blockbuster films. Expect his return on investment number to take a serious hit.
Returns $31.70 for every $1 paid.
Pattinson is the second Twilight star to appear on the list this year. He falls below co-star Kristen Stewart because his one non-Twilight movie that was counted (Water for Elephants) wasn't as big a hit as Stewart's Snow White and the Huntsman.
Returns $30.50 for every $1 paid.
The Harry Potter franchise is the top grossing of all time with $7.7 billion at the global box office. That helped land Daniel Radcliffe on the list. With the series ending, it will be tough for the young actor to keep offering such a good return on investment.
Returns $29.50 for every $1 paid.
Lautner rounds out the Twilight stars on the list. He lands lower than his co-stars because of the 2011 film Abduction, which was supposed to be Lautner's big breakout role. It ended up flopping at the box office and dinged Lautner's return on investment number.
Returns $25 for every $1 paid.
Not only is Cooper the sexiest man alive (according to People magazine) but he also offers studios a pretty good return on investment. As long as The Hangover movies keep raking in hundreds of millions of dollars, expect him to hold on to a place on the list.
Returns $22.70 for every $1 paid.
The Rock has developed a reputation as a franchise saver thanks to hits like Fast Five and Journey 2: The Mysterious Island. As long as he keep his fee reasonable, Johnson will continue to be a great investment.
Returns $22.60 for every $1 paid.
Adams has become one of Hollywood's most respected actresses but her payday has yet to catch up to her reputation. That makes her a great return on investment in movies like Disney's recent The Muppets, which earned $158 million on a budget of $45 million.
