A good movie

Back in the 80's, Harrison Ford completely ruled and literally all his movies were either huge financial success and/or critically acclaimed (as a matter of fact, between 1980 and 1983, 4 years in a row, a movie starring Harrison Ford was voted best movie of the year in Imdb!) So, with this in mind, I thought it would be a good idea to re-watch this flick which was a big success back then allowing Ford to get his first and only academy award acting nomination. And, indeed, he gave a very good performance, just like Kelly McGillis. Furthermore, the directing by Peter Weir was quite mesmerizing, giving an interesting look on the Amish community which he actually knew nothing about before filming. However, even though I really enjoyed it, I can't say I was really blown away. Indeed, you have basically 3 storylines (a thriller, a love story and an examination of the clash between our modern world and the Amish culture) and, even though according to Roger Ebert, all three elements worked together well, I have to disagree with him. Indeed, I thought the whole thriller thing was entertaining but was just used as an excuse to find a reason to put Harrison Ford in the Amish community. Still, it is a very well made flick, really entertaining and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you have a weak spot for Harrison Ford like I do.
