This has to be one of the most underrated movies of all time. It's a movie about a New York city tabloid that misses the true story entirely. Two young Black men arrested (framed) for the murder of some rich white guys. The hero is a news editor who doesn't want to run the bogus story because it will cause race riots. He makes great personal sacrifices for this. The Paper definatly captures the cl... read more

A good movie

Honestly, it has been a while since I have watched this flick and I should probably re-watch it at some point. Anyway, I have noticed that it is probably one of Ron Howard’s most obscure movies but even though it is rather underrated, I thought it was actually pretty good. I remember it very well, back in the days, my sister (another movie buff) really liked it a lot so I got really intrigued. E... read more

BradWesley123's Movie Journal- January 2016 (33 movies items)

" Showtime- 1hr. 51min. First Viewing The Paper is often at odds with itself tonally, wanting to be both a personal, authentic look at journalists doing their jobs, and a lighthearted, silly relationship dramedy. When it focuses on professionalism, it soars, but falters otherwise. The cast is exceptional though, and carries the movie even in it's weaker stretches. A solid movie (though if you have the choice between this and Michael Keaton's other journalism movie, take Spotlight)."

30 From 94: My Favorite Films From 1994 (30 movies items)

"The machinations behind the printing press and the kinds of coming and going-ons that take place in and out of the offices in order to make sure that the latest news makes it to the earliest editions. A forgotten Ron Howard production with a quality squad of performances by names such as Robert Duvall, Marissa Tomei, Michael Keaton and Glenn Close. "

"When: March 17th First-Time Viewing: Yes. How: DVD from the library. What'd I Think?: Gutsy, well-made, if somewhat melodramatic, drama. My Rating: 8/10 Other Notes: NA."
