Yes, kids have a severe chemical imbalance going on in their heads during the teen years. And don't do drugs, kiddos, it just makes it worse.

Evan Rachel Wood is a natural born actress, and watching her in this is proof. Just an amazing, natural, unselfconscious performance. I love Holly Hunter in it too, and feel for her helplessness. Great coming-of-age film. A+

Partly autobiographical, Thirteen was co-written by Hardwicke and actual 13-year-old Reed, who are close family friends. Originally intending to write a teen comedy, they ended up creating a hard-hitting drama exposing the contemporary teenage experience.
