This is a fantastic movie. It's not as good as the book, of course. I really liked how the director juxtaposed the relationships between Gatsby and Daisy and between Myrtle and Tom, but he added a good bit of content that I don't think needs to be there - after all, isn't this the Great American Novel?

Almost 40 years after this movie, Baz Luhrmann came up with an ambitious remake with Leonardo DiCaprio in the title role but even though the whole thing had some potential, I still preferred this version though. Still, even though I did like this movie, it was still missing something to become truly amazing.
