The original Shaft came out in the early to late 70's and starred Richard Roundtree. What many people don't know is that like James Bond, Shaft was based on a series of novels. The author in fact does say that the character of John Shaft, is an African American version of James Bond.

" Date: 2/7/2021 Viewed: Blu-Ray Re-Watch Note: For Black History Month, I do plan on watching all the Shaft movies including the new movie that came out over a year ago. Also, this year is the 50th anniversary of the franchise. Shaft is still a great movie and it holds up very well in my opinion. John Shaft is a great iconic action hero from the 1970s and is probably the most famous Blaxploitation character ever. Richard Roundtree does an amazing job of playing an awesome action hero that is "
