Moonstruck

I know what you’re thinking: Cher is an Academy Award winner…for acting. On paper, yes, it does sound fairly odd. After all, Cher is mostly known as a camp-driven diva that embraces her inner drag queen and crafts pop music that only she could make work. Nothing about that screams Serious Actress. But that’s the thing about Cher. Just when you think that you’ve got her figured out, she pul... read more

An average movie

To be honest, it has been a while since I have seen this flick and maybe I should give it a 2nd chance. The point is that this movie has a really solid reputation, the late Roger Ebert really loved it for example but, personally, I failed to see what was so amazing about the damned thing. I mean, as a matter of fact, I do have a weak spot for romantic-comedies but, I don’t know, I really had a h... read more

No sooner does Italian-American widow Loretta (Cher) accept a marriage proposal from her doltish boyfriend, Johnny (Danny Aiello), than she finds herself falling for his younger brother, Ronny (Nicolas Cage). She tries to resist, but Ronny lost his hand in an accident he blames on his brother, and has no scruples about aggressively pursuing her while Johnny is out of the country. As Loretta falls deeper in love, she comes to learn that she's not the only one in her family with a secret romance.

"Snap out of it, people, Cher is not funny but this well-written romantic comedy at least gives her a chance at some quality acting."

my half assed 2018 movie diary (40 movies items)

" This is one of those movies that tries too hard to be charming but it just ends up grating the shit out of my nerves with its overbearing sappiness. Like one of those corny romances about "finding love in all the wrong places uWu" because Cher plays a middle aged widow in love with the dumb brute brother of her fiance blablabla... The best thing about this movie, the only good thing about this movie, is watching Nicolas Cage go nuts and rant and rave. Him being cast as a "sexy" Italian-Ameri"
