To be honest, it has been a while since I have seen this flick. Still, I remember it very well, I had no idea what to expect from the damned thing and I wanted to watch it just mostly because Dustin Hoffman was involved. Basically, it is a rather typical feature dealing with a con and I always had a weak spot for the genre. Of course, the story was really far-fetched but, in this case, it didnโ€™t... read more

Description: What Jake Vig doesn't know just might get him killed. A sharp and polished grifter, Jake has just swindled thousands of dollars from the unsuspecting Lionel Dolby with the help of his crew: Insideman Gordo, Shills Miles, and Big Al--and two corrupt LAPD officers, Lloyd Whitworth and Omar Manzano. But when both Lionel and Big Al turn up dead, it becomes clear that Lionel wasn't just any mark--as Jake soon learns, he was an accountant for eccentric crime boss Winston King. "Not the greatest Con movie ever produced, but since I'm a big fan of this genre, along with a plot that features a scam that was able to keep it's characters on it's toes, it all adds up into a film that's still solid enough to warrant a place on my list. Plus, with its cast consisting of Dustin Hoffman, Ed Burns, the ever-so-beautiful Rachel Weisz, Andy Garcia, Luis Guzman & Paul Giamatti, it's a cadre of culprits who move through the caper with enough confidence to make it's complicated compon"
