Best Films of 1999

A movie set mostly in one room and with three characters. The dialogue is key here and it's mostly not that interesting. I don't really care too much about the characters and the story goes in an uninteresting direction. It seemed like a creative set up but ultimately unsuccessful - For a more successful one-room movie, try Linklater's "Tape".

It's tough watching a Ben Affleck movie, it's not tough watching a Sandra Bullock movie... so this one gave me mixed feelings. The cinematography in this was terrible, the writing was generic, the story is fine.

Middle of the road for Soderbergh and one of Terrence Stamps best performances. It could have been a pretty cool 90 LA film but falls just short.

Lawrence proves he can hold his own in this average con artist comedy

The writers tried so hard to witty and cute but end up only appealing to a certain crowd. It's fitting this came out in the last year of a decade because wraps up what 90s rom coms were all about.

The Soundtrack was better, but the film is enjoyable nonetheless

Disney has been going downhill slowly the past few years but I have never come close to putting a Disney film this far down the list.

By far Lynch's straightest story.

A less entertaining attempt at comedy than... well most Steve Martin's attempts.

What the hell has happened to James Bond? Brosnan is still great but the story and women and gadgets and action have all gone downhill.

Horrific scenes mixed with subtle beauty mixed with the ugliness and beauty of people.

A film barely enjoyable enough to watch until the end when you can watch one of the best boxing fights I've seen on film. You need to see this.

I'm not sure how an the highest echelon crew can make such a messy and not-great film. Scorsese has all his best on this project and it's somehow a disappointment.
I think the acting was their biggest issue. I'm not sure why they chose who they did.

A goofy 'what if?' romp with a comedic cast and halfway decent dialogue. I'm sure a fan of 'Star Trek' would love this, or perhaps loath this if they take any offense.

A well made film with characters I couldn't get invested in. Michael Caine is great, as always.

Actually pretty interesting story of the pioneers, or pirates, of Silicon Valley. No matter how accurate it is it's still interesting to see how the personal computer came to market, with all the trial tribulations along the way.
