Watching this movie for the first time on DVD (have seen it before, many times), I was reminded of how much I loved watching the old Tom Hanks comedies---you know, all those movies he did BEFORE he started doing all the Oscar-worthy movies.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this movie but even though this flick is now pretty much forgotten by the mainstram audience, it has still reached a somewhat cult status. "Re-watch - July 26th I wanted to watch something with my daughter, and when I ran down our options she picked The Burbs. Even though I only watched it 6 years ago I'd forgotten how it ended somehow, which made the experience about as enjoyable as it was the first time around. The kiddo enjoyed it as well, so I'm hoping I can convince her to watch more of Joe Dante's films in the near future. "
