“Without a doubt the greatest Star Trek movie ever made.”
If paramount had followed the example set by this movie they would still be making Star Trek movies today. The special effects are amazing and the story keeps you on the edge of your seat. I can't recommend it enough.

An average movie

For several reasons, I was really eager to check this Star Trek flick. First of all, it was the first feature completely focusing on the Next Generation crew. Second, since we were now finally in the 90's, I was expecting some beter special effects. Finally, it is considered as many as the best Star Trek movie ever made. Well, eventually, even though I did enjoy this movie, to be honest, I wasn't ... read more

First Contact was a lot of fun, with a few tense situations and most of TNG crew on board. I felt character developement was a bit lacking with the crew, but they were probably assuming it would be fans of the series watching. James Cromwell's character was interesting, and having a loose cannon in the movie made up for the thin character developement on the others. Overall, I really enjoyed it.

It is the 24th century, and a collective of part-humanoid, part-machine beings face the Federation in what would be the biggest battle of all time. This collective, called the Borg, lose and desperately attempt to go back in time to April 4, 2063, to stop Earth's first contact with an alien species (the Vulcans, to be precise). Captain Picard and the crew of the Enterprise (NCC-1701-E) go back in time to make sure that Zefram Cochrane makes his famous warp flight. However, the Enterprise-E runs into unexpected trouble when the Borg start to assimilate the starship.

The future kind of sucks. (430 movies items)

"Reason for the future sucking: A group of alien/robot hybrids make their way to Earth, to assilmate humans. The humans have at this point, are living in a lived in, post apocalyptic type planet. Year it takes place: 2063"

" The follow up, to Star Trek: Generations, the Borg make their first film appearance, with them going back in time to prevent the first contract meeting of humans and aliens. Darker, than the previous film, and more action packed too, it was a bigger success than the previous movie, and one that audiences and Star Trek fans enjoyed it, too."

“'Star Trek: The Next Generation' may not be quite as influential or as ground-breaking as the original 'Star Trek' series (though it certainly has those elements), but quality-wise it is every bit as good with a few improvements.

The first "Next Generation" 'Star Trek' film, 'Generations', was to me not that bad but was frustratingly uneven (namely the treatment of Kirk and the emotion chip subplot). The next film, 'First Contact', was a significant improvement and highly deserves its reputation as the best film based of 'The Next Generation' series and one of the best 'Star Trek' films overall. Giving some of the supporting characters, like Worf and Crusher, more to do rather than giving them little screen time and not having them do much, was pretty much the only thing that 'Fi” read more
