“I wasn’t really sure what to expect from this flick but since there was a decent cast involved, I thought I might as well check it out. To be honest, I have to admit that I didn’t know much about Ted Kennedy and what happened back then and only therefore I thought it was quite interesting. Still, I wish they did develop more the background around this story though. Seriously, it is rather bewildering that so many brainless blockbusters like Transformers or Pirates of Caribbean should last more than 150 mins but such historical drama would actually struggle to reach 90 mins. Anyway, they didn't give us much details about Ted Kennedy before the actual accident and even less about the other characters involved. Seriously, his wife was mentioned a couple of times and I don’t think they h” read more

"Jason Clarke is a good actor but really unlikable in every role in which I've seen him play. Luckily for the filmmakers that works for this lead as the unqualified buffoon, Ted Kennedy. The cinematography and production design are solid and the biggest surprise comes from Andy Bernard, I mean, Ed Helms. He is another actor who I don't like but is actually the strongest part of this flat piece. Actually, I can't leave without noting how awesome it was to see Jim Gaffigan in his role, too. "

" Jason Clarke is superb at playing an unlikable character. In this he plays a real-life unlikable schmuck... and he does it well. For this first time I will actually say Ed Helm's performance was impressive. I think he should stick to this type of acting rather than be cast in comedies in which he doesn't deserve to be. "

" DVD- 1hr. 46min. First Viewing It's all technically compelling and clearly presented, but Chappaquiddick is too cold and didactic to make anything resembling a lasting impact. Again, it's a proficient film; it's quite well-made, and the cast, particularly Clarke, all do solid work. There's just no blood pumping through the film's veins, with no real emotion and/or point-of-view guiding it. It's fine, but this story deserved more than fine."
