Aidan Murphy
At the very least Aidan was virtually oblivious to the true horrors of his life. Sometimes I wish I was a positive personality like him. Otherwise, his life was nothing to envy. Born a blue baby and dumped on foster care almost immediately after, Aidan was molested as a small child, beaten by his 'girlfriend' Linda, and ignored and abused by just about everyone he came into contact with. Oh yeah, things don't turn out so bad for him in the end, but it was a hard-won victory.

Poor Snape. He was in love with the same woman throughout his life, who somehow ended up in the arms of his childhood enemy. She kicked it, and Dumbledore made him do some pretty terrible things along the way. And is he rewarded for his troubles, and his protection of Harry Potter throughout the entire series? No! He is feared and hated. Well. go figure.

Hushpuppy
When I watched this movie, I was astounded at the squalor Hushpuppy and her father Wink lived in. That overrode any inspirational aspects for me. Also, the fact that Wink was virtually a child himself ensured that Hushpuppy's life would not be easy.

I have Asperger's, so being touchy and affectionate is not in my nature, especially when people I don't know very well try to wrap their arms around me, I can't stand it. But to not be able to touch at all, that would be tough. Leaves sex, cuddling, hugging and just about everything else out of the question. So that's too bad for Rogue.
