Sort by: Showing 17 items
Decade: Rating: List Type:
People who added this item 230 Average listal rating (181 ratings) 5.5 IMDB Rating 6.2
Tomatometer Guess: 58%. After several less-than-stellar followups, will the sixth film in the Terminator be the one that changes things?

Actual Score: 70%. "Terminator: Dark Fate" still pales in comparison to the first two films in the series, but manages to be a vast improvement over the last couple of sequels with better action and a more engaging story.
JWR's rating:
People who added this item 48 Average listal rating (34 ratings) 6.5 IMDB Rating 6.7
Tomatometer Guess: 62%.

Actual Score: 73%. A formulaic, but competent and immensely entertaining watch carried by the performance of Cynthia Erivo.
JWR's rating:
People who added this item 102 Average listal rating (56 ratings) 6.6 IMDB Rating 6.8
Tomatometer Guess: 54%.

Actual Score: 66%. While overlong and a bit slow, "Motherless Brooklyn" showcases Edward Norton's potential as a director and features very good performances.
JWR's rating:
People who added this item 284 Average listal rating (201 ratings) 6.8 IMDB Rating 7.3
Tomatometer Guess: 79%. Mike Flanagan helms the movie adaptation of "Doctor Sleep", the sequel to "The Shining".

Actual Score: 73%. "Doctor Sleep" succeeds as a thought-provoking and psychologically taught follow up to "The Shining". Though, like with its predecessor, it requires some patience.
JWR's rating:
People who added this item 89 Average listal rating (70 ratings) 6.4 IMDB Rating 6.7
Midway (2019)
Tomatometer Guess: 30%.

Actual Score: 40%. As is usually the case with Roland Emmerich, "Midway" is heavy on bombastic action and overblown spectacle, but lacking in substance and historical accuracy.
JWR's rating:
People who added this item 257 Average listal rating (188 ratings) 7.4 IMDB Rating 8.1
Tomatometer Guess: 85%. James Mangold directs this historical biopic drama.

Actual Score: 91%. "Ford v. Ferrari" delivers with powerhouse performances from Matt Damon and Christian Bale, blends hard hitting drama with humor, and delivers tense, pulse-pounding racing sequences. Highly recommend.
JWR's rating:
People who added this item 134 Average listal rating (94 ratings) 5.3 IMDB Rating 4.9
Tomatometer Guess: 53%.

Actual Score: 60%. Elizabeth Banks' "Charlie's Angels" is uneven and shallow, but still agreeably entertaining (if forgettable) time benefiting from the chemistry of its leading ladies.
JWR's rating:
People who added this item 77 Average listal rating (58 ratings) 2.7 IMDB Rating 2.7
Cats (2019)
Tomatometer Guess: 40%. Perhaps the biggest wildcard of the year.

Actual Score: 19%. "Cats" is a woefully misguided and dreadful moviegoing experience that's an assault on the ears (thanks to lackluster singing) and the eyes (with its hideous character designs). But it's undeniably a fascinating movie.

I'd only recommend it to the extremely and morbidly curious crowd.
JWR's rating:
People who added this item 270 Average listal rating (193 ratings) 6 IMDB Rating 6.8
Frozen II (2019)
Tomatometer Guess: 86%. After the original went on to become the highest-grossing animated film of all time, it's a given that we'd be getting a sequel.

Actual Score: 76%. While not quite the classic the first "Frozen" was, "Frozen II" is a solid sequel boasting breathtaking animation, catchy songs, and plenty of emotional moments.
JWR's rating:
People who added this item 83 Average listal rating (55 ratings) 6.6 IMDB Rating 6.6
21 Bridges (2019)
Tomatometer Guess: 49%.

Actual Score: 50%.
JWR's rating:
Tomatometer Guess: 91%.

Actual Score 96%.
JWR's rating:
People who added this item 565 Average listal rating (432 ratings) 7.5 IMDB Rating 7.9
Tomatometer Guess: 90%. Rian Johnson returns to his mid-budget roots with this whodunnit mystery.

Actual Score: 96%. With its amazing ensemble cast and witty spin on the whodunnit, "Knives Out" is clever, funny, unpredictable, masterfully directed, and surprisingly heartfelt. Making it one of the best films you'll see this year.
JWR's rating:
People who added this item 461 Average listal rating (338 ratings) 7.5 IMDB Rating 7.8
Tomatometer Guess: 94%. Martin Scorsese's long-awaited biopic drama about Frank "The Irishman" Sheeran reunites Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci, and Al Pacino.

Actual Score: 96%%. Meticulously directed, perfectly paced, and brilliantly acted, "The Irishman" sees Martin Scorsese at the peak of his power as he de-glamorizes the gangster genre. Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci, and Al Pacino all deliver spectacular performances. Though some of the de-aging is a bit off.
JWR's rating:
People who added this item 256 Average listal rating (187 ratings) 6 IMDB Rating 6.7
Tomatometer Guess: 75%. After "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle" proved to be a huge critical and commercial hit, comes the sequel.

Actual Score: 68%. "The Next Level" is not quite as good or as fresh as its predecessor, but is still a highly enjoyable sequel featuring many of Welcome's strengths, including fun action sequences. Give it a watch.
JWR's rating:
People who added this item 328 Average listal rating (247 ratings) 7.3 IMDB Rating 7.4
Tomatometer Guess: 89%. The directors behind "Good Time" return for this drama thriller starring in almost unrecognizable Adam Sandler.

Actual Score: 93%. "Uncut Gems" is an exciting, tense, and darkly humorous thriller featuring a career best performance from Adam Sandler and a story that is enjoyably unpredictable. Though your mileage may vary based on how you respond to the off-kilter tone and pace.
JWR's rating:
Tomatometer Guess: 91%. After the immensely polarizing "The Last Jedi", J.J. Abrams returns to bring a conclusion to the hotly debated sequel trilogy and Skywalker saga.

Actual Score: 58%. While uneven and convoluted, "The Rise of Skywalker" is a bombastic and agreeably entertaining conclusion to the saga.
JWR's rating:
People who added this item 85 Average listal rating (59 ratings) 6.4 IMDB Rating 6.8
Tomatometer Guess: 71%.

Actual Score: 72%. It probably won't go down as a classic but "Spies In Disguise" is a funny and entertaining spy comedy that boasts a solid moral and benefits greatly from the chemistry between Will Smith and Tom Holland.
