Love, Death & Robots (2019)
Season 1
I like this shorts anthology series. Some are skippable, sure, but I sat through all of it. I like how it tried to cover all the genres and wasn't afraid to be adult/rated R about their stories, even if reminding us these are often silly cartoons.

The Politician (2019)
Season 2
Another second season that was very different from the first, but we saw it coming with how the first season ended. The show got better in a multitude of ways, spending more time on the characters we liked and less time on ones we didn't. Always a smart move, plus the story evolved nicely... though it did seemed rushed in the last episode. We theorized it was because the pandemic halted production and they wanted to get the season out anyway. Crazy how we have the internet and still don't use it for its full potential by getting answers to these types of things.

Where Seth Meyers triumphed in the no-audience realm, Colbert floundered for several months. He eventually got his mojo back, but his interesting interviewees were also fewer and farther between.

Mindhunter (2017)
Season 2
This season was very different than the first. Sure we had the same main characters and there were still a few interviews with serial killers but the plot pulled focus on one potential serial killer in Atlanta, with the FBI seeing how they can put their findings to good use.
A very good second season!

Season 1
I love Goldblum and he has understandably taken advantage of his recent surge in popularity now that people have finally responded so positively to his quirkiness; but this show relies too much on that and I think he really only works as full entertainment when he is interacting with people who know how to respond to his quirkiness. I can't stand that word, quirkiness.

Season 8
Now that it's on Netflix the format has changed a little bit and there is more to it; but the basic idea of shooting the shit with fellow comedians is still there and it still works.

Third season is not as catastrophic as I had hoped.

The Alienist (2018)
Season 1
Two Fanning sisters shows in a row? Not planned, but not annoyed either. Both have been solid and yet, very very different.
This one is slowly becoming quite a story. The acting and production are the standouts at four episodes in.

Season 1
Wow, this show really surprised me. It's really quite good and fun. What started off as a cross between "The Favorite" and "Marie Antoinette" became very much a thing of its own. The cast has great chemistry, the production design holds its own, and the writing is some of the best writing I've seen on TV.
Huzzah!

They really tried to make the third season better and worth it; but alas it was unremarkable.

Late Night with Seth Meyers (2014)
Season 7
His best season yet. He has developed the best show among the late night shows, with the pandemic.

The first season was great, this one was better. It just became one of the best shows on tv. Incredible writing, character development, and production quality.

Limited Series
One of the best things TV has had to offer this year. Incredible cast, led by the greatest, Blanchett. The direction each episodes takes is so refreshing, especially since it's about a shouldn't-be fresh subject. The production value, from cinematography, to design, sound, wardrobe, everything is top-notch here.

Funny, yes. Clever and endearing, and strange. But not enough episodes to enjoy it enough. It needs more!

F Is for Family (2015)
Season 4
Bill Burr's animated family comedy is still kicking and finding every so many ways to be poignant and provocative while also having a subtle family values sprinkled throughout. There are actually so many themes they touch on here in the fourth season. It's impressive how effortlessly it seems to get done.
Stehako's rating:
Season 3
This show continues to be what it should be, a nostalgic, feel-good family comedy. Even though TV is mostly better than it has ever been, it sort of makes you wish for more 80s and 90s type shows... the sitcoms, at least.

Limited Series
It felt like a miniseries from 90s instead of being a limited series about the 90s. Was it on purpose? Maybe. Not sure.

There were some bright spots in this melodrama; but not too interesting or fresh. I liked the 90s high school references and the Izzy character. The ending was stupid.

Season 3 (Final Season)
After two incredible seasons the third and final one was disappointing with so many uncharacteristically bad decisions made. The tone was different, and I understand it's leading to an end of an era, but that makes for a tough full-season watch.
I liked the final scene, cool idea, just not as amazing as I had hoped.

Dead To Me (2019)
Season 1
This is definitely a dramedy, not a comedy. Important to know before going in as we were expecting a lot more laughs. It's well-written and the two leads are likable, in their own strange ways. Plus, Ed Asner has a supporting role!
The ending was solid and we are likely going to watch Season 2...

My Brilliant Friend (2018)

Not their best season but the last two episodes were powerful. Bateman has created a well-crafted dark family crime family drama.

Room 104 (2017)
Season 2
I have a similar feeling about this second round of short stories from the Duplass Brothers. Some were strong some missed the mark. Overall I think it's a creative way to tell short stories, something we don't get enough opportunity to watch.

Season 6 (Final Season)
There were plenty of genuinely funny moments in this final season. The ending was disappointing, and I'll explain in the spoiler below:
*Spoilers*: The main issue with this show is they never get ahead. Every season there is a glimmer of hope. This season showed the closest thing to success and it is very short lived. I understand the show thrives on conflict but after all their brutal failings just let them end it with a win. No, they don't. It's depressing.

Halfway through now... I like the western sci fi mix. My son is really enjoying it. I think it's got some merit. I came into it with high judgement and knowing we don't need a Star Wars TV series; but this is respectable.

Season 2
Second season tops the first in this brilliant show. I loved it all, from the Paris scenes at the beginning, to the detour in The Catskills, to the finale. The editing seems to have gotten more creative, plus the production design, acting, writing and cinematography are still top of their game for television.
Tony Shalhoub's character is even more hilarious but they weakened Kevin Pollack's character. That may be my only negative thing to say at the moment.
Stehako's rating:
Season 6
The show proves it deserves to keep going. The pacing, acting, and writing all stay strong. It's showing just a bit of its age and I'm confident it won't ever go back to the strength of the first three seasons, but I'm happy it's still going.
Stehako's rating:
Camelot (2011)
Single-Season Series
I ended up fast-forwarding a lot of this, trying to get to the end. Starz went cheap on a story that has been told too many times before, making it unnecessary viewing.

Season 10
Still a hypochondriac! The show is very funny but it's feeling a little tired even when it's trying to keep with the times. A lot more well-known guest appearances in this season, with the highlight being John Hamm getting into a role he is researching...

The show's summer season idea is strong until it's weakened when they go back to school. We are watching this with our 8-year-old and he loves it, haha.

Netflix and their stupid 3-season issue. This show was on fire and now stopped, dead in its tracks, after it only got funnier with each season. Sad to see it go.

Shameless (US) (2011)
Season 9
For the first time in nine seasons I can't say the show is amazing. There were many flaws in this season, but at least it did end strong. It's finally plateaued. Quite impressive.
The next season should be the last, before it grows old.
Stehako's rating:
Living with Yourself (2019)
Season 1
It's all Paul Rudd all the time and it's great. There are some odd directing and editing moments, but otherwise a solid season and much needed quality half hour show for Netlfix that's actually for adults.
