This was kind of a dull movie for Sinatra. His kid in it was annoying, and actually Sinatra's character is annoying, too. Makes it tough to really enjoy what is actually not a bad story, for the time period.

This was apparently a controversial movie, so I was expecting a more controversial story or scenes... then again, I shouldn't have considering it was 1959 in a still-very Christian/Catholic USA. It basically just painted the church and nuns as imperfect and not so squeaky clean. Still, Hepburn pulled off a hell of a performance, one of her best. Director Zinnemann handled the story well and crafted a pretty decent film, considering the rather uninteresting subject matter.

Incredible acting, impressively adapted, and a movie that seemed ahead of its time. Some of the editing was weird and it gets melodramatic (it is Tennessee Williams after all) but those things don't take from its emotional impact.
