As some of you may know, Buffy the Vampire Slayer had a very formulaic narrative set-up for each series. Each season was brought about by the rise and fall of a notable villain(s) and this list is to note those individuals.

The term 'Big Bad' has been used by fans, the creators and on-screen and is the proper terminology when referring to the over-arcing villain of a season. Little Bad is a derivative of the term which refers to the 'fake' villain or minor nuisance of that particular season, their threat level is not as lethal as the Big.

Notes:

-The Master and Glory were the only Big Bads that managed to off Buffy in their respective seasons.

-Adam was the only Big Bad defeated in the penultimate episode of his respective season.

-The First Evil, an incorporeal being, is the main villain of Season Seven but it is able to manifest as the other Big Bads. Notably in the first episode of Season Seven.

-Twilight is the Big Bad for Season Eight but as it is in comic format, it cannot be displayed in this list.
