I don't think I'm surprising anyone when I say that I'm not a fan of pop music. I just don't think it provides anything substantial, and I don't mean in the pretentious way, but it terms of good quality, good songwriting, or not sounding the same (For the most part).
However, there are those pop singers. The ones that don't make me want to take my eardrums out. Now, I've chosen this list based on "pure" pop, i.e: electronic, clean production, and terms of popularity (Not ranked by the last one of course, because that would be unfair).
Thanks for letting me waste your time.

It's ironic that even though the British has had some of the greatest music ever made, they have some pretty awful pop music. In contrast, Ellie Goulding is great, and not just compared to her competition, but she's just a great artist.
Unlike her "peers", she actually puts effort in the work, not just in her songwriting, but in the music and vocals as well. Songs like 'Lights' have a production that repetitive, but has enough in it to keep it floating with Ellie's voice. It really flows into the music, and the sudden explosion of the chorus is really something to hear.
Even if you don't like pop music (Which I assume many of you don't) I would still recommend listening to her. Yes, she's not as good as other artists outside the genre working today, but she's still very talented Plus, having something good attached to 'Fifty Shades of Grey' is worthy of my respect.

Let me get one thing out of the way, even though Justin Timberlake was a part N*Sync, I am not referring to them at all, because N*Sync have and always will be one of the worst things to happen to music (Listening to 'Bye Bye Bye' is enough to make me go on a killing spree). But just because a band sucks doesn't mean all the members suck, such in the case of Justin Timberlake.
While the made-up image in N*Sync felt forced, JT seems like he knows what he's doing, and while his lyrics are from the best, but they're also far from the worst. It's helped by the fact that Timbaland - one of the few good pop producers I can think that's working today - handles much of the production, and most of the time, the result is really fucking good. The somber but upbeat production in What Goes Around Comes Around or the elegance of Suit and Tie blends in perfectly with JT's personality.
What does hold him back a bit though is that he does have a couple of weak singles, but compared to what else JT has to offer, that comparison is scraping the bottom of the barrel.

No explanation needed (Except for one: Why the fuck didn't he just quit after Dangerous?! It would have made his later career less shameful.)
