March to April 2018 Tomatometer Predictions

Tomatometer Guess: 56%. Jennifer Lawrence stars as a Russian sex spy in this Sultry thriller set during the Cold War.

Actual Score: 48%. Though well-acted and tense in some moments, Red Sparrow is too uneven and unwieldy in parts to fully recommend it.

Tomatometer Guess: 30%. Bruce Willis stars in this Eli Roth penned and directed this remake of the 1974 revenge thriller starring Charles Bronson.

Actual Score: 14%. What could have been a fun Grindhouse style romp turns out to be a generic, been-there, done-that action film that lacks the grit of the original and unfortunately feels like one of its lesser sequels.

Tomatometer Guess: 54%. Ava DuVernay directs this live-action adaptation of Madeline L'Engel's famous novel of the same name.

Actual Score: 40%. A Wrinkle in Time is Visually striking and well-acted but unfortunately suffers from a generic script that tries to adapt the novel scene for scene with mixed results.

Tomatometer Guess: 12%.

Actual Score: 41%.

Tomatometer Guess: 71%. Alicia Vikander stars as Lara Croft in the second live-action adaptation of the video games. This time based on the 2013 reboot.

Actual Score: 49%. Tomb Raider is the best video game movie in years, though that's not saying much. The acting is good, the action sequences are well done, but there's a twist in the third act that somewhat derails what was otherwise a solid action flick.

Tomatometer Guess: 62%. John Boyega stars in the sequel to 2013's Pacific Rim.

Actual Score: 46%. While Pacific Rim: Uprising is a step down from the first film, John Boyega's performance, and some very well done action sequences keep it from being a complete waste.

Tomatometer Guess: 94%. Wes Anderson returns to the stop-motion animation genre in this star-studded sci-fi film that is sure to feature his trademark quirky direction.

Actual Score: 93%. Isle of Dogs is a heartfelt, visually stunning, and darkly comical classic from Wes Anderson.

Tomatometer Guess: 65%. Rather fitting that Steven Spielberg directs the movie adaptation of a book that was basically a loving homage to his work. Will it turn out well or will it get game over?

Actual Score: 76%. Ready Player One is an exciting, rousing, and nostalgic adventure that has plenty of easter eggs and homages to nerd culture.

Tomatometer Guess: 80%. Little is known about this horror thriller starring Emily Blunt and John Krasinski (For whom this is also his directorial debut), but its trailers make it out to be a potentially great horror flick.

Actual Score: 95%. A Quiet Place may just be my favorite film of 2018 so far. It manages to be tense, scary, well-acted, and surprisingly emotional with a minimal amount of dialogue. Go see it!

Tomatometer Guess: 39%. Dwayne Johnson stars in this adaptation of the eponymous arcade game.

Actual Score: 50%. Simple, but fun.

Tomatometer Guess: 28%. This follow up to the original from 2001 will most likely follow in the footsteps of other belated sequels.

Actual Score: 36%.

Tomatometer Guess: 39%.

Tomatometer Guess: 21%. Whether you love her or hate her, Amy Schumer returns with this comedy.

Actual Score: 36%. Well-meaning and amusing, but only sporoadically so.

Tomatometer Guess: 90%. Marvel shocked everyone by moving film's release date a week early, and understandably so, seeing as how there will be a great many spoilers.

In what will no doubt be the biggest movie of the year, the heroes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe converge and unite to prevent Thanos from obtaining the Infinity Gems and destroying the universe.

Actual Score: 84%. Avengers: Infinity War has great action, great character interaction, debatably the best villian in the entire MCU, and an ending that will leave many viewers an emotional wreck. Go see it!
