Peppermint (2018)
Tomatometer Guess: 31%.
Actual Score: 12%. While far from terrible, and made slightly more enjoyable by Jennifer Garner's performance, Peppermint is a very average thriller with very little in terms of originality.

JWR's rating:
The Predator (2018)
Tomatometer Guess: 75%. Rather appropriate that Shane Black, who starred in the first Predator eventually directs the newest one.
Actual Score: 34%. To say that The Predator is a disappointment would be something of an understatement. Despite some genuine moments of B-Movie style entertainment, it's all overshadowed by a very convoluted narrative and a third act where it all falls apart.

Tomatometer Guess: 80%.
Actual Score: 64%. Despite not fully living up to its potential, White Boy Rick is worth watching solely for its very solid performances from the cast.

JWR's rating:
Venom (2018)
Tomatometer Guess: 24%. Tom Hardy stars as the titular main character in what I'm sure will be a labor of love and passion and NOT a blatant cash grab produced by Sony.
Actual Score: 31%. To nobody's surprise, Venom is a dull, passionless, shallow, and often unintentionally funny cash grab from Sony meant to kickstart a cinematic universe.

JWR's rating:
A Star Is Born (2018)
Tomatometer Guess: 79%.
Actual Score: 91%. The third remake of the 1937 classic of the same name is easily the best version and a strong contender for the best film of 2018 so far.
Bradley Cooper directs and co-stars with Lady Gaga and both of them do an incredible job in front of and behind the screen.
It's a tragic, messy, and beautiful love story that is definitely a must see.

JWR's rating:
First Man (2018)
Tomatometer Guess: 90%. Damian Chezelle's next feature film which will surely be nominated for an Oscar only to actually lose to another movie.
Actual Score: 89%. First Man is an emotional, intense, and very human story that retells the life of Neil Armstrong.

JWR's rating:
Bad Times at the El Royale (2018)
Tomatometer Guess: 82%.
Actual Score: 73%. Despite its somewhat excessive runtime, Bad Times at the El Royale is a witty, subversive, and thrilling Tarantino-style whodunit with great performances and lots of humor.

JWR's rating:
Halloween (2018)
Tomatometer Guess: 70%. After Rob Zombie's Halloween II effectively killed the franchise for nearly 10 years, Michael Meyers has returned and reunited with Jamie Lee Curtis for a new round of scares.
Actual Score: 79%. Halloween(2018) is a welcome return to form for the series with a grounded story, effective drama, satisfying kills, and a surprising amount of humor.
