Welshman John Charles, the legendary gentle giant/ gigante buono, who was never cautioned in his career, was voted greatest foreign player for Juventus. Top scorer in the Italian league, he formed a brilliant partnership with Omar Sivori, taking Juve to 3 titles, as well as man of the match in the Cup final, during his few years there.

Many don't realise that he was formidable not just as centre forward but as a centre half: he is an automatic choice among experts (if not in attack) as central defender, alongside Bobby Moore, in an all-time UK XI. Coming from unsung Wales, his fame has suffered nowadays, but as the team's star player he reached the world cup 1/4 final of 1958, only to miss the 1-0 defeat v Brazil through injury- or history might have been very different!

Visionary general and master of total football, who led Ajax to domination in the early 70s and Holland to become a major footballing power. He could control matches from the half way line or from all over the pitch; a creator and scorer who brought out the best in team-mates. Underrated by many who judge on youtube videos rather than the importance of intelligence and all-round play.
