Allan Holdsworth is the most inspirational guitarist ever. While the man was genius of his craft and often regarded the greatest ever, he still was just a humble man and anything but a show-off egoist shredder. Truly one of a kind master of his instrument.
Darth Brutus's rating:
The master of synth music. I don't think Klaus has released any weaker record, average at worst. While the official releases are great, I find the bootlegs far more interesting since the man was always at his best outside the studio. Luckily he has a good habit of releasing that stuff in huge boxes of like 100 cd's and that's just awesome.
Darth Brutus's rating:
Everything that's come before Money for Nothing is masterpiece for me. Love Over Gold and Alchemy Live are where they peaked. Very few albums have ever come close to these gems.

Miles was a force of nature. He re-invented jazz at least dozen times over his career: first came bebop, soon he moved to more experimental and avant garde territory, then more funk... only to sell out in the 80's. I personally think his late 60's albums were the best studio works. Miles himself thought his was at his best live, and he was.

She used to be big in the late 80's and early 90's. I've genuinely enjoyed everything I've heard from her, some of the stuff still being my all time most played songs.
Darth Brutus's rating:
Steve Harris is one of the best songwriters in metal, and Iron Maiden at their best (86-88) were among the greatest musical phenomenons of our time. The have done both good and bad albums ever since, but even at their worst they've been proven to be able to stand the test of time and kick some ass.
Darth Brutus's rating:
At first I thought they were some basic glam band. Then I was completely blown away by Headless Children and Crimson Idol. Then I got the other albums and understood how foolish I was, since this is some world class metal.
Darth Brutus's rating:
The masters of epic metal are still going strong. I think Moonsorrow was among the first three metal bands I ever fell in love with back in the 90's, and they've gotten only better with time. I think they might be the among the best metal acts today.
Darth Brutus's rating:
Jim was something of an oddball genius of popular music: on the other hand he was a megalomaniac with brilliant ear for catchy melodies, but at the same time everything he did had this sense of over the top cartoony self-irony that made you either love him or hate him. I did love his music and still do.
Sadly, though, the man couldn't really sing, so he was mainly a songwriter, producer and a pianist for other artists.

Darth Brutus's rating:
One of my all time favourite albums were made by this band. My early 20's were my Marillion-era, when I basically only listened to their music. Everything until This Strange Engine is masterclass prog for me, but most after have mostly been underwhelming and boring with few exceptions.
Darth Brutus's rating:
Everything until early 2000's and late 90's, their first break-up, is masterpiece for me, few bands have released so many awesome killer albums back to back. Sucks that most newer stuff is just plain boring and some tribute bands make better pirate metal than they do nowadays.
Darth Brutus's rating:
King Diamond was the ACE in the 80's, it only got better and better until he decided to simplify his sound and that's that. The classic album are some of the all time greatest metal feasts made by man, the rest is what it is.
Darth Brutus's rating:
I don't think Riot has made any bad albums in their whole career, they have always stayed consistently good with few notable exceptions like Thundersteel, which is one of the best albums regardless of the genre.
Darth Brutus's rating:
Ted was the master of chords and beautiful harmonies, his style is somewhat of a mix of baroque, blues and jazz improvisation.
Darth Brutus's rating:
One of the most talented guitar players of all time. Listening to his music for the first time was a revelation: the dude can frigging play Holdsworth like nobody's business. Matteo is still very young and developing even further, so it's going to be highly interesting to see what direction he will choose to go with his special talent.
Darth Brutus's rating:
I didn't know I enjoyed this kind of stuff so much. I just accidentally found about this band some of my friends were crazy about, and I totally get it. The Birthday Massacre is something of a goth rock or alternative metal band mixed with synthwave. They sound massive, and I don't think there's many bands exactly like them, so it's cool.
