This is how you do the MET. Let's start with the cape. It's a beautiful nod to the theme without going to literal, which let's be honest, if anyone could have gotten away with taking the theme too far it would be her. The gold sheath underneath is stunning and all together she looks like an Asian/Egyptian Goddess.

It's flashy and makes a statement. It embraces the theme without being too literal. It's edgy and fun as is her style. It's everything a MET Gala look should be.
For any other event, or any other theme I would have hated this look but for the MET it's perfect. She embraced the theme by wearing a Chinese designer and the train literally shut down the red carpet. You can't have a bigger statement than that.

Kate almost never fails to deliver a glamourous and sexy look and this is no exception. It looks as though she is literally dripping in gold and the high cut of the dress lends well to the Chinese theme.

I love the rich dramatic color of this dress as well as the Chinese inspired emroidery of the back. The fit is perfect and her accessories are on point. Nice job.
It's official; I love this girl. Even in Chanel and not on theme I can't find a single thing not to love about this look. I love that she's wore the skirt high so she's not baring her midriff like the runway look and that she kept the birdcage veil.

I almost didn't include this look. I thought about it for a long time but you just can't leave a moment like this out. Karen really ran with the theme and looks like royalty. Is it over the top and a little too literal? Yes. But it is still gorgeous so on the list it goes.
This is a look that took me a little while to appreciate. At first I just thought it was yet another sheer gown and I'm over that theme. Upon reflection though, the chainmetal effect along with the black accents give the look an armor feel which is totally on theme and sets this look apart from the stale and tired trend favored by stars such as Beyonce, Kim and JLo.
tersanay's rating:
I'm not sure why I like this look so much. Maybe it's the cape. I love a good cape. The floral embroidery makes this look very much on theme, her accessories are perfect and she looks so classic in it.

The spring 2015 Costume Institute exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art is dedicated to Chinese fashion, and that's the theme for this year's gala. The exhibit is called "China: Through the Looking Glass," and it showcases Chinese art and rare artifacts as well as dresses interpreting Chinese designs from Western designers like John Galliano, Alexander McQueen, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Tom Ford.
