“To be honest, I wasn’t really sure what to expect from this flick but since there was a nice cast involved, I thought I might as well check it out. Fist of all, I thought it was such a strong story.  Indeed, it was dealing with a heralded journalist who was fired in shame from the New York Times after basically making some stuff up in one of his articles. However, out of nowhere, a psychopath took over his identity but, fortunately for this journalist, this killer was actually eager to meet and work together but he turned out to be a pathological liar which was hardly surprising. First Viewing While both leads do strong work (Franco in particular excels here), and the real-life story is mesmerizing, the film has such low energy that it threatens to make even it (the story) dull. Had the film had any verve or energy, than this could've been something excellent. "

"Effective, methodical character study. A writer's investment in a pathological liar, shows what brought him to the table in the first place. I'm not sure what people had against it. But ultimately, kind of gets lost in the sea of much more impressive films out there. I just can't get past the fact that this is a James Franco/Jonah Hill vehicle."
