Description:
In the 1870s New Mexico territory, T.C. Jeffords (Walter Huston) is a cattle baron who built his ranch, The Furies, from scratch. He borrows from banks, pays hired hands with his own scrip ("T.C.s"), and carries on low-level warfare with the Mexicans who settled the land but are now considered squatters. He has enemies, including Rip Darrow (Wendell Corey), a saloon owner from whose father T.C. took land. His headstrong daughter Vance (Barbara Stanwyck) has a lifelong friend in one of the Mexicans, her heart set on Rip, and dad's promise that she will run The Furies someday. Movies the giraffe watched in 2021: November (50 movies items)"First viewing - Nov. 21st Barbara Stanwyck was a Great actress, and this is just another example of why. She impresses at every turn, and the film would be a great showcase for her if it wasn't also a really good story full of some rich characters. I struggled a little with the romantic side of the film, but everything else works well enough I can probably let that slide. I'm glad I was finally able to give this a look as it was well worth my time. Streaming on Hulu"
