Review

A grossly mediocre and uninspired entry into the series, maybe on par with part seven only with far less impact in the now traditional revelation sequence and none of the visual acumen of it or it's predecessors. Even the score reeks of tired retread. That being said, it's not offensively bad and definitely not as horrid as part five. Ultimately, a forgettable, sub-par continuation that could have... read more

Bodies are turning up around the city, each having met a uniquely gruesome demise. As the investigation proceeds, evidence points to one man: John Kramer. But how can this be? The man known as Jigsaw has been dead for over a decade.

TDcore's Horror Journal: 2018 (50 movies items)

" I knew it would only be so long before there would either be a sequel or a reboot to the Saw franchise, and although I'm happy they did not attempt to reboot the series, this sequel has nothing to offer the cannon either. In fact, it might truly be the weakest film in the series. This chapter doesn't even truly feel like a Saw film. It looks more big budget, instead of the hectic editing and low budget vibe that gave the originals their signature feel. The traps are decidedly weak, not nearly"

Bml93's Film Experiences for 2018 (128 movies items)

" - Rewatched | Second time Jigsaw is a curios experience. It's very much a Saw film, but at the same time, there's a very strange disconnect running through it. This is kind of to be expected. After all, the first seven Saw films can be watched as a seven episode long TV-series, in which returning characters are all over the place throughout most of the films. Jigsaw only brings back Tobin Bell from the earlier films. This means that it has to introduce us to a completely new set of characters a"

"This was bad and I started to piece together the killer/twist at the end right from the first "trap" and about at the halfway mark the film I knew the killer's identity. If you have seen any of these films it's quite easy to put together everything. "

Film Journal 2018 (169 movies items)

"Jigsaw does some interesting things in the context of being a sequel to the seventh outing in a franchise that was ran so thoroughly to the ground they stopped making them despite them still making money. The characters behave in a far more rational way than anyone ever does in these movies, and it doesn't rely as heavily on it's twist as every other movie in the franchise save for VI. It also strips away any discernible character the series had left – the moral quandaries are decidedly less a"

The Good & The Bad - Movies Watched In 2017 (472 movies items)

"After a gap of many years, Jigsaw the 8th installment in the Saw series is back and is just as good as before. OK, so there's nothing new or different from the other entries (i.e devious games and gory deaths) but that's what fans of the series want to see. What I liked about this movie is that it gives the impression that Jigsaw is still alive even though he is supposed to be dead and the payoff behind this illusion is neatly done. The deaths aren't too bad apart from the final one which is rea"
