"FORMAT: 35mm CONDITION: ★★ NOTES: 2000 BFI print – its first legal release in the UK. Presented on a print that plays just fine but looks heavily worn out, which is arguably the ideal way to experience this film. A brief sequence of frames during the scene outside the mansion has taken a hint of water damage, a shot of the Duke during the wedding scene briefly dips to black, and before the reel in which Signora tells the story of shit eating nears its end, the film takes some prominent dam"

" Notes: In spite of or because of its controversial reputation, I was quite eager to check this movie. On top of that, it had been years since I saw a movie directed by Pier Paolo Pasolini. Well, eventually, it definitely deserves its reputation as it was easily one of the most f*cked-up movies I have ever seen and I have seen quite a lot of weird and messed-up flicks. In fact, the sex scenes were not so unbearable but it was the first time I saw a movie dealing with scatology and these scenes "

"There has probably never been a more agonizing portrayal of the terror of helplessness than Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom, in which a small cadre of fascist politicians holds 18 teenagers against their will, repeatedly imposing rapacious tortures on them. That Pier Paolo Pasolini and his collaborators made the film so opulent only makes the den of horrors more infernal; it’s brutal and disgusting but also transfixing and seductive. Salò‘s unbounded horrors of abuse include the prisoners b"
