"22.4. 2019 "Regression" is the only film by Amenábar that disappointed me. It mostly feels just quite cheap compared to his other works. The film is a very basic psychological thriller that uses all the standard tricks like stormy nights, satanic cults, and blurring the lines between fantasy and fiction. There's only a very few scenes in the film that can be considered thrilling and the movie falls flat with a rushed and lackluster ending."

“After 6 long years, Alejandro Amenábar was finally coming back with a new directing effort and even though it was barely seen and it didn't get much love when it was released, I was still really eager to check it out. Well, eventually, it turned out to be unfortunately a massive disappointment and during the whole thing , I was wondering if it was really bad or simply rather weak. I mean, it's not that the directing or the acting were really bad, the main issue, in my opinion, is that it was rather poorly written. I mean, the concept did have some potential but it was just really poorly developed. Seriously, right from the very first scene, it all felt seriously awkward and it is only at the 2nd half that it started to slightly take off but the damage was already done.
