(OK) Deliberately obscure to justify the characters doubts (making a silent and confusing victim), so you arrive to the liberation unsatisfied. Good ol Jodie...

Such a life-changing movie that forces their viewers to reflect on our USA government violating human rights by torturing innocent people, and shows characters making moral decisions after being confronted with evidence of said torture.

A very good movie

Since this movie had a pretty good rating on IMDb and since there was a solid cast involved, I thought I might as well check it out. To be honest, I’m rather surprised that this movie has mostly received some poor reviews (only 53 Metascore) since I really enjoyed the damned thing. Description: Based on the NY Times best-selling memoir "Guantánamo Diary" by Mohamedou Ould Slahi, this is the true story of Slahi's fight for freedom after being detained and imprisoned without charge by the U.S. Government for years. Alone and afraid, Slahi finds allies in defense attorney Nancy Hollander and her associate Teri Duncan who battle the U.S. government in a fight for justice that tests their commitment to the law and their client at every turn. Their controversial advocacy, along with evidence uncovered by a formidable military prosecutor, Lt. Colonel Stuart Couch, uncovers shocking truths and ultimately proves that ... (more)

" Notes: To be honest, I’m rather surprised that this movie has mostly received some poor reviews (only 53 Metascore) since I really enjoyed the damned thing. First of all, I have to admit that I had never heard of Mohamedou Ould Slahi before but it probably allowed me to enjoy more this movie. Indeed, this lack of knowledge did allow me to appreciate the approach they chose by not showing right away if Mohamedou might be guilty or not as it remained rather ambiguous, at least, during the 1st "

BradWesley123’s Movie Journal- May 2021 (35 movies items)

" DVD- 2hrs. 9min. First Viewing The Mauritanian is one of the few films to accurately depict the relentlessness of torture in the "enhanced interrogation" Bush-era. There are two films here; the courtroom drama and the prison drama. The plot machinations are too basic and scattered in the first (it's a courtroom drama that has only two or three courtroom scenes, and they're quite spaced apart), and the characters are often boxed into usual genre tropes (the jaded defense attorney who grows more "
