Comedy gold!

This is absolute comic genius and has to be one of the most hilarious British films in years. The script has to be one of the funniest in cinema you're ever likely to see and hear and easily containing some of the most quotable lines too.

In The Loop's attention to detail is really the driving force in the film. Every segment about the upcoming war is spoken about and brilliantly wri... read more

A richly comic example of what can be done when portraying the ludicrous tribalism and confusion that is the hallmark of modern politics.

The core topic was a little late to the table since the invasion it alludes to had already taken place and that topic was so complicated that it could barely be fit into a series of films let alone one.

Iceman, the alcoholic source ... read more

A great movie

At some point I bought the DVD for this film but, for some reasons, I gave it to a good friend of mine at the time who obviously didn't care at all for this movie (In fact, after all these years, I'm pretty sure he never have watched the damned thing) and I really now regret this decision which seemed to be a good idea at the time. Anyway, since I heard many good things about this movie, I was rea... read more

Description: “In the Loop” (unrated but for mature audiences because of language) delivers a near nonstop riot of bumbling, egotistical politicians and their overstressed aides all engaged in a game that has very real consequences for the rest of the world. At one point the U.S. diplomat uses a kiddie computer to calculate the casualties of the potential war and pauses to note that there have to be some troops left standing at the end or else it looks bad – no thought is given to the tens of thousands that might be harmed or displaced by any conflict. In the end, Iannucci delivers a forceful and feverishly funny indictment of warmonger ... (more)

“(MU) Iannucci's political comedies are more credible and realist than ?House of cards? ore other political stuff. Too many words and verbal fights, but the hogh key is well sustained, some actions (the assintatn leakinf everything, the subsecreatary and her bleeding teeth...) are really amusing” read more

"Re-watch - April 17th Seeing The Death of Stalin last month had me itching to revisit In the Loop, so I picked it up from the library. My rating for it hasn't changed, and I appreciated all the same aspects as last time I saw it. Amusingly enough I watched it almost exactly 4 years after my first time seeing it (4/16/2014). I still don't think it's great, but it's always a good time and I love the ways it satirizes the post-9/11 rush to war. "

In the Loop

“Can we all just admit that television-to-film adaptations typically don’t work, and that they emerge as bloated episodes on the big screen? Or that they emerge with a distinct feeling of three or more episodes strung together? Well, prepare to be amazed as In the Loop functions on its own merits as a brilliant piece of wicked political satire with no prior knowledge of the show necessary to enjoy it all.   In the wake of our current never-ending political quagmire it’s almost difficult to even mildly chuckle at the lunatics running the asylum. Yet the sight of Peter Capaldi wrapping his Scottish brogue around a series of expletive-laden verbal tirades is impressive in the musicality and muscularity with which he attacks them. A personal favorite is a threat of sticking his cock so f” read more

"Pete Capaldi The cursing in In the Loop, a film about the madcap escalation of a questionable remark made by International Development Minister Simon Foster (played by Tom Hollander), is so fast-paced that it becomes awe-inspiring. In director Armando Ianucci’s universe—which includes In the Loop‘s Britcom predecessor The Thick of It and the HBO hit Veep—no one is more eloquent in their profanity than Minister of Communications Malcolm Tucker. The controlled lunacy and ribald rage which "
