" A basketball player's father must try to convince him to go to a college so he can get a shorter sentence. While audiences felt that the it didn’t have game, critics called it a marginal slam dunk, and that it was one of Spike Lee’s best joints. And with great performances by Denzel Washington and Ray Allen, and a look at basketball and how the game is almost a religious experience of sorts. Featuring a soundtrack, that includes “He Got Game” performed by Public Enemy and Stephen St"

I love how entertaining the entire film is. The film is over two hours long and moves along at a good pace. In my opinion, there was not a single dull moment in the film. Spike Lee told a great story about a bas"
"First viewing - Apr. 10th I suspect it'll take me at least a few more years before I catch up on Spike Lee's films that I haven't seen. This puts me one step closer. And it's fine. He Got Game has a solid cast and a decent story that seems fairly well grounded in reality. I'm not much into basketball, or perhaps I might have appreciated it more. But thankfully it's not only about that, and it's got some important things to say. It's absolutely worth a look, I just wasn't in love with it."

"Released for a week from prison in a shady deal in which he has to convince his son to sign with a particular university, the father of a basketball prodigy struggles to reconnect with his teenage children. While basketball is a prominent theme and the movie opens with majestic shots of various kids poetically playing the game, this is less a sports movie and more a study of estranged relationships with Denzel Washington and Ray Allen having close to equal screen time as father and son respectf"
