Cronos is an enchanting and beautiful film to watch, but it left me constantly longing to be allowed to submerge myself deeper into the magical world that its characters stumbled into. As a result i was left never feeling quite satisfied.
I didn't receive a single fright, but that was ok, because its dark comedy and odd quirks took center stage instead.

Since it was the last movie directed by Guillermo del Toro which I hadn't seen yet, I was of course really eager to check it out. Later on, I also discovered that it was, at the time, the most expensive movie ever made in Mexico which is quite surprising since it was del Toro's first directing feature. The invention, designed to convey eternal life to its owner, survives its maker until 1997, when it shows up with an antiques dealer. "First viewing - Mar. 17th I've wanted to check out Cronos for a long time now, so I was pretty hyped to find it on Max. And hey, it's pretty entertaining. The film serves as a neat twist on the vampire tale, which I mostly dug. The acting is good, the effects are impressive at times, there's some dark humor I enjoyed, and it kept me guessing as to where it was going next. It's not quite great, but I could watch it again."
