La Jetée (1962)
One of my favorites. It is not only obscure, but unusual too.

This is a hard film to find in a quality version. It is well worth the hunt. It is particularly interesting for it's non-traditional ending. Give it a look.
marcuscthomas's rating:
One of the better (if cheesy) end-of-the-world films. From the UK.

Let's Scare Jessica to Death (1971)
Based (loosely and perhaps unintentionally) on Sheridan Le Fanu's vampire classic, Carmilla. This is perhaps the best adaptation of the work.

Baby Doll (1956)
Tennessee Williams and Elia Kazan! Even with all of that, add in Eli Wallach, Carroll Baker, and Karl Malden. Supurb!
marcuscthomas's rating:
This is the British remake of the British original version. Scary!

The Whisperer in Darkness (2011)
I've never met a human being that has seen this film. But, it is worth watching. Particularly because it was made (mostly) by fans.

Less well-known movies that are real gems (sometimes on a small budget)
