The Funeral (1996)
One of the most outstanding, most unique gangster films you'll ever see. But holy crap there needs to be at least a widescreen dvd version released soon HOTDAMMIT. I'll even take a full screen blu-ray.

Anguish (1987)
Small budget horror that is so fucking good you'll be straight up FLABBERGASTED! Don't read ANY plot summaries on this thing cause most of them ruin the damn movie. BRILLIANTLY INVENTIVE FLICK.
![](https://list.lisimg.com/image/5688524/500full.jpg)
Running Time (1997)
Like Hitchcock's Rope, shot in 8-10 minute realtime shots that are wove together with invisible cuts to give the illusion of a one take movie. But Jimmy Stewart is switched out for Bruce B MOVIE GOD Campbell and bank robbery is the plot direction of choice rather than murder for fun. Must see real time sex scene with Bruce Campbell having hot dirty sex in the back of a van.

Thesis (1996)
1st rate Spanish thriller about a snuff film and the once little girl from Spirit of the Beehive, Ana Torrent, determined to unravel the mystery of it all. The lighting-match-after-match scene creates some UNREAL amounts of tension. MUST SEE FLICK.

Richard Pryor, Yaphet Kotto, and Harvey Keitel directed by Paul Schrader. Those 4 names live up to the potential with Pryor delivering a legit Oscar caliber performance. I don't know what "mini-masterpiece" means exactly but I'd apply it to this gem.

Eight Days a Week (1997)
Mucho funny coming of age teen sex comedy type thing that I've seen a good number of times. One scene that happens: Schwartz from A Christmas Story, now all growns up, eats a piece of watermelon after he made sweet, tender love to it.
![](https://list.lisimg.com/image/1910664/500full.jpg)
Opera (1987)
When it comes to Argento, Opera is usually ranked below Suspiria, Deep Red and Tenebre but it's my favorite when it comes to that crazy Italian bastard. I mean this thing is one of the most visually impressive films I've ever witnessed. Stylized giallo horror at its lurid best.
![](https://list.lisimg.com/image/1908212/500full.jpg)
For 1959 this flick is so tremendously fucked up. A disturbing subtle twist at the end, Elizabeth Taylor showing off her goodies in a white swimsuit that is practically invisible, and Katherine Hepburn stealing every scene she's in.
![](https://list.lisimg.com/image/1910162/500full.jpg)
REAL BEARS OH MY GOD RUN! Simultaneously heartwarming and excruciating. Loved this movie ever since I got the pleasure of seeing it in the theater as a kid.
![](https://list.lisimg.com/image/1910060/500full.jpg)
J.D.'s Revenge (1976)
An ambitious, supernatural blaxploitation flick with some truly memorable mad hatter performances and solid, grimy direction. Plus, Louis Gosset Jr. as a fiery preacher can't be forgotten. Distinct as hell entry to this sub-genre. I love it.

Jerry and Tom (1998)
This is dark comedy in one of its finest forms. Sam Rockwell busts many a guts and the Ted Danson cameo scene always floors my ass. Beautiful scene melding transitions have never been done so smooth as they are in this.
![](https://list.lisimg.com/image/1910175/500full.jpg)
Dead & Buried (1981)
The first 3 minutes of this movie is beautiful mouth agape wtfness. Great movie about the bizarre bonds of love and the silly power of the past. Written and directed by Bobcat Goldthwait.
![](https://list.lisimg.com/image/1910201/500full.jpg)
A Peter Falk and John Cassavetes "buddy" crime/drama/comedy that makes it hard to take your eyes off those two. This film left an impression in me five miles deep and when Peter Falk jumps over the counter at the diner MANNNNNNNNNNNNN.
![](https://list.lisimg.com/image/1908173/500full.jpg)
If you want a methodical character based crime/drama with messed up human beings, bank robbery, a sadistic almost blow job scene, philosophical revenge, and wood chopping, then watch this bitch!

White Dog (1982)
Sam Fuller tells the story of a dog who has been trained to attack black people on sight and Paul Winfield as the man who seeks to end the hate. Powerful filmmaking down into the marrowed bone.
![](https://list.lisimg.com/image/1910300/500full.jpg)
The 4th Man (1983)
Paul Verhoeven and spiders and sex and violence and pupil wrecking images and blood and tits and yeah, Verhoeven stuff. One bitchin' movie.

Rush (1992)
Jennifer Jason Leigh and Jason Patric own this movie all over the place, like they usually do. Superb true crime moviemaking based on a true story.
![](https://list.lisimg.com/image/1910109/500full.jpg)
![](https://list.lisimg.com/image/1910109/500full.jpg)
The Razor's Edge (1984)
Ole Bill Murray doing the drama thing for the first time. Or at least one of the first times, I'm not sure exactly but it works for the most part and I really dig it.
![](https://list.lisimg.com/image/1910327/500full.jpg)
Peter Weller's mission to kill a single rat that is terrorizing him in his apartment slowly takes over his life...and mind. Groovy and unusual lesser known 80s thriller.

Series 7: The Contenders (2001)
A reality show where the purpose is to actually MURDER the other contestants. 7 enter, only 1 may leave errr live. Strange, dark, spot-on satire.
![](https://list.lisimg.com/image/1910347/500full.jpg)
The Birthday (2004)
Charming, random, bewildering, crazed, hilarious, shocking, marvelous, bloody, apocalyptic and...Corey Feldman. In seriously, the best performance of his career.
![](https://list.lisimg.com/image/1908338/500full.jpg)
![](https://list.lisimg.com/image/1908338/500full.jpg)
The Rapture (1991)
Don't ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever be THIS religious.
![](https://list.lisimg.com/image/1910353/500full.jpg)
The Hidden (1987)
Action mixed with Sci-Fi mixed with Horror and it is AWESOMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Flamethrowers in slo-motion = heaven.
![](https://list.lisimg.com/image/1910428/500full.jpg)
Little Murders (1971)
Pitch black comedy with some meat to it directed by Alan Arkin. Donald Sutherland's monologue as the super hippy preacher should be seen by anyone who loves movies.
![](https://list.lisimg.com/image/1910409/500full.jpg)
Hukkle (2002)
A cryptic tale of images and sounds and jet planes and hiccups and death. Can you figure out what is going on? Well you might not be able to cause it's really fucking peculiar.
![](https://list.lisimg.com/image/1910392/500full.jpg)
The Vagrant (1992)
Oh what the fuck did I just watch??????????? Oh where the shit can I please buy the DVD and poster immediately!?!??!?!?!??!!?!?!?!?!?!?!??
![](https://list.lisimg.com/image/5688595/500full.jpg)
Criminally underrated war movie about the Afghan/Russian tussle with Jason Patric in the lead. Astounding stuff that will probably continue to be ignored when war flicks are brought up on message boards.
![](https://list.lisimg.com/image/1910462/500full.jpg)
Jack the Bear (1993)
The little kid going as a Nazi for Halloween is one thing that REALLY sticks out in my mind in this one of a kind drama.
![](https://list.lisimg.com/image/1910479/500full.jpg)
Gag filled Marx Brothers type stuff with John Turturro. Your chest might hurt like a point blank double barrel shotgun blast from all the laughing.
![](https://list.lisimg.com/image/1910512/500full.jpg)
Off Limits (1988)
Buddy cop action in Vietnam with Willem Dafoe and Gregory Hines playing it intense and sweaty. This was forty drums of butt better than I expected and needs more love!!! BAD ASS FLICK TO THE MAX.
![](https://list.lisimg.com/image/1908320/500full.jpg)
The President's Last Bang (2005)
House III: The Horror Show (1989)
Lance Henriksen (cop) vs. Brion James (supernatural serial killer) is all you really need to know. So much freakin' genre flick fun and the electric chair execution scene is so over the top I'm still smiling like a dipshit. Also called House 3.

Breaking In (1989)
This movie...is truly...funny as shit. Small concept character driven comedy with Burt Reynolds and Casey Siemaszko as low level crooks who decide to team up. Written by John Sayles and directed by Bill Forsyth.
![](https://list.lisimg.com/image/1908330/500full.jpg)
![](https://list.lisimg.com/image/1908330/500full.jpg)
The Offence (1973)
Sean Connery and Sidney Lumet team up again for this gut wrenching cop drama about a child molestation investigation. Primal and savage with a funky atmosphere you won't forget. Career highlight performance from Connery.
![](https://list.lisimg.com/image/1910634/500full.jpg)
8 Million Ways to Die (1986)
Biggest travesty ever: Treat Williams not getting an Oscar nomination for this 3 hour Sidney Lumet epic cop drama that is 20 times better than Serpico.
![](https://list.lisimg.com/image/5688647/500full.jpg)
Poor Pretty Eddie (1975)
Dirty. Violent. Gorgeous. Trash. Some of the most sickening and stylized uses of parallel action cross cutting I've ever seen. Some sweet SUPER slo-mo too.
![](https://list.lisimg.com/image/1910657/500full.jpg)
Brain Dead (1990)
It's like a low budget David Lynch flick with the two Bills, Paxton and Pullman. Roger Corman produced.
![](https://list.lisimg.com/image/1910531/500full.jpg)
A redneck version of Fargo with elements of Elmore Leonard. Bill Paxton is the southern cop waiting on the two villians, Billy Boy Thornton and Michael Beach, to show up in his town and it features some of the best subtle, natural child acting I've seen in a long time.
![](https://list.lisimg.com/image/1908299/500full.jpg)
The Ninth Configuration (1980)
Stacy Keach and a bunch of crazy motherfuckers keep you captivated the whole way. Written and Directed by William Peter Blatty, author/screenwriter of The Exorcist. Unforgettable fuggin' flick.
![](https://list.lisimg.com/image/1910668/500full.jpg)
Not every flick here is a top to bottom masterpiece (well some are dammit) but I will guarantee you that every flick is filled with an OH SHIT moment or two or strives for something big n' bold n' ballsy or will be branded into your brain until the very day you die. Or just all 3. Enjoy ya rat basta'ds!
Also, some are just amazing some are just underrated some are just obscure and some are just bizarre but most of the time there's a little mix n matching crossover going on but don't expect each flick to meet all four criteria. All I know is all these flicks just need more love.
