The first film was so fresh. Dudley Moore, Sir John Gielgud, and Liza Minelli.

Fright Night (1985)
A B-movie in the first place. Not a bad one, but no need to duplicate poorly.
marcuscthomas's rating:

Poltergeist (1982)
This film would have been better if it ended after the first hour. Somehow, they determined that it needed another 50 minutes and then, a remake.
marcuscthomas's rating:

Freaky Friday (1977)
Not once, but twice! The original is still the best. Barbara Harris is so cute in this role!
marcuscthomas's rating:

Walking Tall (1973)
It must have been tempting, given the budget of the original, to remake this film. But, alas, it was not an improvement.
marcuscthomas's rating:

The Shaggy Dog (1959)
This was a light, fluffy Disney film of no great repute. I can't understand the need to remake this...and poorly.
marcuscthomas's rating:

House on Haunted Hill (1959)
This was a William Castle film. Most of those should never have been made the first time, much less a second time.
marcuscthomas's rating:

The remake of this cheesy b-movie was more of a reboot or re-imagining than a remake. Nonetheless, it stunk!
marcuscthomas's rating:

Planet of the Apes (1968)
The makers of this film likely figured that advances in makeup and special effects would make improving this film a cinch. But, the original is so iconic...
marcuscthomas's rating:

This film did not need to be remade, but, in 1977, Director Philip Kaufman made a superior remake. However, the film was remade again in 1994 (Body Snatchers), and 2007 (Invasion). The last two were certainly unnecessary.
marcuscthomas's rating:

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)
A bunch of people sat around in a room and thought that this was a good idea. I don't know.
marcuscthomas's rating:

The Karate Kid (1984)
The first film was just OK. I can't imagine an improvement being beneficial to the world. The second film could not even accomplish that.
marcuscthomas's rating:

The Last Man on Earth (1964)
This story, "I am Legend" by Richard Matheson, has been made and remade so many times that it is difficult to follow (I am Legend, The Omega Man, I am Omega, and an untitled reboot in the works in 2017). The first is the best.
marcuscthomas's rating:

The Incredible Journey (1963)
This film was remade, unnecessarily, in 1993 with personified animals.
marcuscthomas's rating:

Some films are too good to ramake. Some films are too bad to remake. Some films are too mundane to remake.
